Covid vaccine

I wasn’t going to get the vaccine even though I was offered it months ago as I work in a nursing home. Today my doctor rang me and offered me an appointment as I’m high risk group 6 due to pernicious anaemia.

I’m going to have it now.

Goodness. I've not heard of PA in group 6 with diabetics ect.So you having it now.

Mg friend works in a care home . Shr did have the covid vaccination early on . I think all her colleagues did too.

L wonder if anyone else has been told this.

I've certainly not.

Shouldve had it by now just because in right age group.

Cant get to the centre I was offered as too far away. Nothing is easy.

I do not live in the outer hebrides btw

I’ll query them more tomorrow when I get it. I’m glad I’m getting at my doctors and not sent 39 miles down the road.

Yes that is good. I wouldnt query it .

You are entitled anyway working in a care home.

I know that but I refused it initially at work. BUT now my doctor has rung me and said I should have it as I’m at higher risk! I’m going to have it (they don’t know I’m a carer btw as I’m not, I’m a chef)

I think you are really wise to have the vaccine lizblow, as you are at higher risk .

Well done. I am certain that is a sensible and thoughtful decision.

Having PA doesn't put you at risk.

I suspect that the doctor is trying everything possible to get you to have the injections because you work in a nursing home.

You need to be vaccinated. If not for your own health, then for the health of those you care for.

It was because they’re doing my age group now so they’re doing really well getting through the numbers

Lizblow.

Just to let you know... I'm now closing your post to further replies to prevent further off topic comments and discussion about the Covid vaccine. This is no reflection on your post and so please post again as and when you wish.

As others have said... and for others reading...PA doesn’t put anyone who has it in a high risk group for Covid (I understand that you were offered the vaccine because of age category).

I had the Astra Zeneca vaccine several weeks ago and all went well for me (excepting a few minor side effects largely due to another underlying medical condition - not PA, I hasten to add).
