B12 and the covid vaccine

I was just wondering would there be any effects or problems having the covid vaccine close to the b12 injection ?

I have my next b12 injection tomorrow and then my covid vaccine on the Thursday. Any one had them close together?

Thank you 🙏

Yup.

I had my B12 on Friday and my vaccination on Saturday. Slight pain in my arm for two days, that was all.

Had B12 injection on a Monday , COVID on following Thursday . Absolutely fine . No reactions at all .

Thank you, I always have a bad reaction to flu jabs and I have fatigue and various other health issues I’m just concerned It will leave me in a worse position and will be bed ridden again. Not against the vaccine at all just my body reacts in the worst possible way and leaves me in so much pain

I know what you mean. The sooner you have your B12 after your covid the better - it will help you to get over it.

I usually react a lot to the flu jab but only had a sore arm after the Pfizer Biontec jab.

I self inject B12 daily so did my usual B12 jab the morning before and the morning after the covid one.

Hi. I also inject daily as I am still bedridden and in the early stages of recovery. It is a slow process but there are slight improvements which is good. Recovery for me is erratic at the moment with lots of elevated heart beats and anxiety as the shot seems to wear off the next day. Is this normal? How long have you been SI daily and its good to know you didn't react to the covid shot as I will have to have my B12 in the morning then covid a few hours later.

Do you know of others that SI day?

Kindest regards.

Thank you, I have made a plan to have my b12 today giving it a few days before the vaccine then a day or so b12 again hoping I will bounce back better if there are any issues

Exactly the same here. I stopped having the flu vaccine due to reactions but had my covid Astra Zeneca jab last Thursday, my B12 jab Monday and no probs at all.

I had my b12 in the morning and the vaccine the same afternoon. I had a sore arm, a headache later that evening and felt tired a day later but but nothing to cause me concern.

I had my Pfizer vaccine two days after my b12. Unfortunately I did suffer side effects of fatigue, ached all over and headaches. I’m really pleased I had my b12 previous to it as I think I could of suffered far worse without it.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me, was it only a few days you felt like that?

I’m preparing myself by prioritising things I need to do before it. I already suffer with fatigue and pain from past childhood treatment and illness then my PA any thing adding to this is a big concern.

I know people say it’s only for a few days and it will protect me and look on the bright side but anything that is a few days for others is a week to a month for me to recover.

Hope you have recovered from your vaccine and feeling better x

It was literally just over 24 hours. Sure my arm (injection site) felt a little sore for a day or two longer but over all the effects were very brief.

As I’ve said I believe having the b12 pre vaccine was more my good luck rather than judgment. Thank you for your kind wishes 😊

I wish you well with your vaccine and health x

I felt that more frequent injections helped me when in slow recovery from covid.Again, after my vaccine, when I had a reaction which felt uncomfortably similar to the start of covid, I found the same to be true. Luckily reaction only lasted 24 hours.

GP who gave me the jab said who gets a reaction is completely random and not dependent on type of vaccine etc, but that if you have recently had covid, you are more likely to react.

It is not recommended to have your vaccine less than a month from the start of a covid infection.

Glad I'm over covid, glad I had the vaccine, glad I had the extra B12 to help me.

Hope your feeling better , I had covid way back when it all started took me 2 months to get back to my normal.

Seems an extra boost of b12 is helping a lot of people who suffer with side effects.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me x

Relationship between long covid and B12 deficiency has been discussed here: there seem to be many symptom similarities - so it made sense to me, instead of trying to work out what was just my "normal" B12 deficiency/ whether covid had made my B12 symptoms worse / what was solely due to covid, to treat both in the same way.Frequent B12 injections.

What I found, and I haven't noticed it mentioned elsewhere, was that from the beginning I could taste covid at the far back of my throat. Indescribable because so unlike anything else, unlike the burning throat/tongue I am used to with B12 deficiency, or the metallic taste others talk of.

I get the same metal it taste with my b12, it will be only a few days then it’s gone. I’ve never spoken to anyone who has this, also my tongue does get real sore plus gum pain.

Do you get ever get abscesses and/or loose teeth too ?

Never managed to do much about my burning tongue - an everyday nuisance. Hoping the Oral medicine consultant I saw will help find an answer, when/if normal service resumed. Angular cheilitis (sore, splitting and bleeding corners of mouth) is now a very rare symptom for me due to his advice: use nipple cream . I'd had that almost constantly for over a decade ! He tried to find cause by taking swabs and growing cultures: nothing.

You can see why a link might be found between long covid and B12 deficiency symptoms: what that means exactly is not known. Yet.

If a link is found, it might help reawaken interest in PA and B12 deficiency as a research subject.

Personally I would wait for the results of this experimental vaccine before making a decision 👍

Sadly my friend has a blood clot on his lung after 1st Pfizer vaccine and after 2nd vaccine is now suffering psychosis! Could be a coincidence but we really don't know. His wife is a nurse and knows of a few others with similar side effects. Hope all goes well for you.

I’d like to update my post and I have had both my vaccines and I had my b12 close together with them. I only felt a little tired for a couple of days and my arm was sore for 3 days for when I had both. I felt like I got over the side effects far quicker from having my b12 a few days after.

I’m sorry to read that some of you that have commented that you or someone you know has had side effects from it.

I too was unsure to have it but I also wanted to be safe and it was the best choice I’ve made and I feel safer for getting mine.

It is also a choice for everyone to make.

Thank you everyone for sharing their experience to help me make my decision
