No i havent but ivr tried alot.

Spartone

Solgar gentle iron

And ferrous fumerate 210 every other day. After a year every third day.

Alternating. Is what I settled on.

I take the spartane j fruit juice with a meal.

Also get 14mg in a multivit the days j take thay.

Just take iton away from caffeine for better absorbtion.

So far it's worked took a while though.

Still have regular blood tests and tell Gp regime.

Thank you. Yep agreed. I take it I can buy ferrous fumerate anywhere or is it prescription?

Either way I will await blood test results with full iron panel.

I buy ferrous fumerate at 210 mg over the counter as cheaper that way . Also no prescription needed. 84 tablets for £6 .70

320 mg with folate was on prescription. only taken once!! . I tzkd that for the elemental iron.

Haem supplements can be good.

You can take them alongside the more common ones like ferrous fumarate. Though it is always important to ensure you do not over-supplement.

I have absolutely no knowledge of the product you asked about. I do not like the way the page appears to equate the low iron content with the fact it is better tolerated. If it were that obvious, people could just take a smaller dose of whatever else!

Yeah I agree. I am still researching it all

In your opinion, is there any additional benefit to taking haem if hb levels are in range by taking ferrous fumerate?

It's a haem iron supplement. So it should be easily absorbed.

Cannot find it for sale in the UK, but this looks similar - amazon.co.uk/Original-Heme-...

Thank you. I have seen thagvone before but this one has folic acid included but I am still searching. Other possibilities, obviously after eating liver, is dessicated beef liver capsules.

I use OptiFer heme iron tablets. They are the only ones that haven't caused me massive gastro probs. They have several types in their range but the only ones available in the UK (at the moment) have 18mg of heme iron and 400mcg of folic acid in them.

I prefer the heme iron too. I take Proferrin Clear and no side effects. I’ve tried just about every non heme iron there is and have found the heme to be far superior as far as how I feel and no side effects.

I use Proferrin after trying many other’s and I love it. I don’t have side effects from it like I do from the non heme iron and it seems to be working. I say that only because I feel better but haven’t had my iron and ferritin levels checked yet to confirm. I use the Proferrin Clear because it has less additives in it. I take 3 capsules a day instead of the recommended 1 capsule on the bottle. One capsule has 10mg of heme iron which I’m pretty sure is equal to 100mg of non heme iron and it’s much more absorbable. I recommend trying it. I’ve been battling low iron for year’s now and Proferrin Clear has helped with my symptoms the most. I wish I had bloodwork to backup my claims but I haven’t had it done since I started the Proferrin.
