Irritability a side effect of B12 injections?

Hello all, I've just had my 5th injection of methylcobalamin at home and have been feeling extra irritable, interpreting things in darker ways, and much more weepy. I'm concerned about this. Is this a normal part of the adjustment process?

My blood test did not show low B12, as I'd been supplementing orally. My understanding is that supplementing with B12 can mask a true deficiency. I have been taking a multi with folate and also supplement with D3, magnesium, and heme-based iron. Symptoms have been fatigue no matter how much I sleep, brain fog, mood swings, and occasional eye twitches that lasted for up to 8 hours.

I've suspected that I've been B12 deficient due to a gluten sensitivity (which could very well be Celiac's - I've not pursued diagnosis as that can be a real saga and not worth it when the treatment is the same (remove gluten and restore deficiencies).

It worries me that I'm having more mood swings, not less. I was researching undermethylation and overmethylation and am concerned that maybe I overmethylate and mistook my symptoms for a nonexistent B12 deficiency, and that getting injections is destabilizing to my methylation balance.

Input welcome. Thank you.

That sort of b12 can give people side effects. If you need injections I would try another form. Hydroxocobalamin or cynocobalamin

If you can absorb b12 tablets they might be all you need. Every form takes time to heal.

Treating a folate deficiency first without

b12 deficiency being treated is wrong as csn mask.

Be careful with iron supplements .

If you dont need it dont take it

Go by your bloods.

I hope you find a way

people do respond differently to different types of B12. Reports of increased anxiety associated with methylcobalamin comes up a lot more frequently than with other forms of B12 though I do remember at least one report of it happening with hydroxocobalamin.Suggest that you try stopping the supplements and see if that results in the symptoms reducing.

I had the exact same problem the one time I tried methylcobalamin. If you must inject then try cyanocobalamin. It's just as effective, cheaper, easier to source, more stable and less likely to cause side effects.

I suggest you stop trying to diagnose yourself from the Interwebs and see a doctor.

I think the reason you are feeling this way is because you are using methylcobalamin. I took methel oral supplements and felt so anxious and depressed and had insomnia. I tried it twice and each time it made me feel horrible.

Methyl I think cause a more active mind. What made you choose it? Nerve damage?

I have hydroxo injections and only occasional methyl spray if I have brain fog or v run down

How much magnesium are you on?

Maybe you need a little bit more..?

Are you taking folic acid? I find this balances it a little too.
