I am b12 deficient and I inject weekly myself and 10 weekly at the GP surgery.
I recently found myself in hospital for 7 days with the worse pain in my lower back. I have 4 bulging discs and a tear. This is preventing me from sitting and I can only walk for a short time. To do this though I have to take morphine and gabapentin.
My question is do you think increasing my b12 to every other day for a week or so would help? I know this is wear and tear but I have had sciatica for over a year and never got it looked at so I am now thinking my b12 deficiency could have possible contributed in some way?
Also any thoughts on recovery time and ways to make it heal would be appreciated, meaning if someone else has experienced what I'm going through.
Many Thanks

My daughter had L2 and L3 bulge in her spine . Herniation I think called rather thdn thr old term slipped disc. Clearly seen on xray. Very painful.
She had diazepam to sleep. The timing happened before het b12injection was due.
She is young but her recovery altered into another condition although nerves disturbed. The pain on medication was relatively short lived . That is acute pain.
I had prolapsed discs many years ago, around 35 years actually, which caused soft tissue damage, the said it was degenerative disc disease I was 30 at the time.
I’d suffered from chronic back pain also sciatica since the birth of my last baby and id also haemorrhaged badly after the birth.
Looking back I now know it was b12 deficiency I was suffering from ,I have p.a and my back was bad all those years.I now self inject EOD and I can’t say my backs massively improved but in fairness I’ve struggled with back pain all these years and now have oesteoporosis in my spine and hips so I’d say go for it you can’t do any harm and overall you will benefit from the shots in many ways.best of luck x
