Hip and Lower back pain that’s causing issues with my legs

Hi all!

Hope everyone is keeping well!

The last few weeks on and off, have been experiencing like a dull achy sensation in my hips back and sometimes lower stomach, normally on the left hand side.

This then makes my leg feel a bit crampy and tingly on the surface and feels like it’s pulsating!

Tends to get worse at night :( is this normal? If so does anyone have any advice on how to ease this?

Thanks in advance

All of these pains are normal in a b12 deficiency recovery. Try over the counter meds like ibuprofen or similiar. Epsom salt baths can also help.

Also make sure you eat a potassium rich diet. Try to get as close to the daily amount possible by eating potassium rich foods like bananas, coconut water, etc.. this should help with muscle aches and cramps.

Magnesium glycinate before bed can also help relax your muscles and calm you for sleep. Take the daily dose or less.

Thank you very much! My brain automatically thinks the worst and goes to it being either a blood clot or peripheral artery disease, I do like to worry lol. People have mentioned potassium to me before so I shall get some more of that in my diet.

Good morning. When I get this it’s normally my right hip that’s worse but like you I feel it in my hip my back and down my left leg.

I go to a pelvic floor specialist and have physio, she told me that internally my right hip is wound up like a spring she goes inside and manipulates the muscle so that it loosens up and releases the tension on the ligaments etc.It works like a dream,it’s seems this is a very common problem especially after childbirth and people are being wrongly told to do pelvic floor exercises to tighten up the area when this is the wrong thing to do we need the exact opposite and need this muscle relaxed or we suffer terrible referred pain.

Might be worth tryng to find a woman’s pelvic floor physio in your area and discuss this and get checked it can’t do any harm and you may just have the same thing.Mines cost around £40 a session and I honestly felt a difference immediately ,the therapist will also give you exercises to do at home I actually need to go back because I’m feeling it again and I’m lazy if I’m honest and don’t keep up the exercises and need her to release it again.

Good luck xx

Thank you so much! Driving me bonkers today! Ive got constant pins and needles and aches so might have to speak with my GP if it doesn’t stop in the next 24hrs. Will definitely be looking into doing some pelvic floor exercises to try and ease it, thank you so much :) xx

Ask your gp to refer you to a woman’s health Physio don’t try and do any kegels etc yourself it may not be the best thing for you and can worsen your condition.Best of luck x

If you can seeing a physio may be a good idea - with lower back pain the tendency is to stop exercising. If muscle weakness is a contributing factor this may be the worst thing to do. I get right side pain - generally trapped nerve - so gets worse in certain position. Doesn't fit with most of what you describe though - just dull ache most of the time and some numbness. I found that actually changing my exercise routines to include some sideway movements and twisting really helped so may have strengthened ligaments so nerves not so trapped - however, please do make sure you have taken proper medical advice before to make sure you are using the right tactics.

Sounds very familiar. I get right hip lower back . Also down the front of my legs. Also cramps at times in my feet and ankles

Definitely see a pysio for the right exercises.

I think mine were initially from being bedbound mainly even though I dud what I could. Even eye exercises for dizziness .

Now I'm not able to do enough exercises .I'm also on or I thr bed for 10-+12 hours which becomes a vicious circle. I've tried lessening this but more head pain. B12 deficiency causes mayhem. Not the only causes though. I've never ached like this before though.

I've got gentle exercises to strengthen. I bought a thera band. Cheap advised by pysio.

I saw a NHS pysio twice. I have a sheet.

He explained although I'm walking and using myvlegs I'm not strengthening?

I place the band while sitting o a chair just above my knees . Then you open and shut your hips a fee times with the resistance.

I was told so safe . To make sure I at least do some I put my bra around and do a few before dressing whust putting face cream on. I get bored and my bras so old the stretch gone lol . Hard to shop for on the internet when theve stopped making the one that I know fits!!

To keep stuff going in a very small way j have to make a routine otherwise I stop when I'm not hurting which defeats the onject.

Ive never been to a gym so when I say gentle I really mean not too much effort. I do think better than nothing and does help.

I also (not every day) take a vitamin aimed at women of s certain age! As have a different mix!

So depending on your age consider what you may need if anything.

Obviously a good diet but I no longer trust I'm absorbing it all!!

Chooses the right pysio. One with me gave me exercises that unfortunately gave me more headaches .

I'm a bit lazy with pysio as so boring but lkje incorporating them into chores around the home.

Must do some today!!!

Also check 'ferritin, folate ,iron magnesium potassium on your next bloods and vit d

I don’t get the pulsating but my hips are agony as well as my elbow. I’ve been using tiger balm which seems to ease it
