I know B12 can cause a long list of symptoms, most of which I have experienced at one point or another. Has anyone has issues with lower back pain? I can’t seem to find any cause and I don’t know if it could somehow possibly be B12 related.
lower back pain : I know B12 can cause... - Pernicious Anaemi...
lower back pain
B12 deficiency can lead to muscle weakness, and if that was muscle weakness in the back that would lead to back pain.
Yes this has been a problem for me. I think it was connected to the nerves healing , since they affected my legs quite a lot. I think it's improved over time, or I've ignored it. One or the other!
That was interesting,I was admitted to Hospital after going on a diet under the supervision of the practice nurse who recorded my weight loss on the PC, then my Doctor left the new Doctor this was the beginning of the pandemic and when I had a Blood test to check my levels, they used my old weight not looking at my weight loss, I was slowly overdosing, I was falling down all the time I thought it was my ears maybe full of wax, when a plumber was fitting a new boiler he saw me fall and called an ambulance, I couldn't believe that they would admit me in a pandemic, the hospital weighed me and tested my blood and said something was wrong with my dosage, they worked out that I was taking twice the amount of anti convulsants the day before being discharged I was told of a positive test for Covid, that has caused my legs to really be weak, they tested my legs in hospital, my left leg was weaker than my right, after Covid that has reversed, now my right leg is the weaker, but has PA and Covid been responsible I really don't know
Yes terrible back pain and leg numbness / weakness - all seems connected as I don’t have a back problem! It is improving but slowly and not linearly.
I've had severe lower back pain and had all the tests, ultrasound, MRI, etc. Nerve impingement showed up but my doctor says that has nothing to do with pernicious anaemia. Maybe not, but my legs and especially feet, are still numb after years of injections. Remedial massage helps but is very expensive. I don't know if mylin sheath has been eroded in the nerves in my spine. I can't stand up for long without having to sit down.
Your MRI would show sub clinical degeneration of the spinal cord so I suspect what we have is subtler than that. It’s awful!
Yes I had severe back pain about 6 months into treatment , no explanation for it but it did improve over time
I am sure, given time-frame, that my lower back pain and left-side groin/clicking hip pain are connected to B12 deficiency. The symptoms I first presented with, early in 2015, were this, daily diarrhoea and fatigue.
I could not stand up straight, not without holding onto something or leaning on something, not for longer than a few minutes. I felt as though I was leaning backwards and to the left, leaving lower spine in compression and abdominal and thigh tension. Legs would start to shake.
No such trouble when walking, and sitting in a comfy chair was fine, but on a bus or hard chair: lower back pain. Prefer to stand and lean back against something [ I noticed at a meeting that Martyn Hooper does this, too !]
Although I am much better, whenever I have a blip and other B12 deficiency symptoms worsen, the bad back comes back. Certainly sounds a bit like muscle deterioration.
Same with arms as legs - grating cheese or changing a lightbulb would be enough to make arms shake and tense up, decorating Christmas tree a two-day event with many teabreaks.
MRI and other scans showed nothing more than the usual wear and tear.
I absolutely had both lower and upper back pain so bad I was on mild pain killers 24/7 which is not my norm. No reason for the pain as well. It has completely resolved after 1 year of daily injections with cyano. Have you been tested for b12 and other b vitamin deficiencies?
O get lower back pain I'd j stand on the spot for too long.I.e in s supermarket
Talking in the street
Cooking.
I've also had deep hip pains enough to wake me in the night. .
Al since be deficient.
It goes in spates.
B12 injection definitely gives relief??
I used to get lower back pain if on my feet for 12 hours
Not 4-12 minutes !!
