Bedtime injection

Hello, I am self injecting, so can choose when to take the b12. Would it be crazy to take it before bed. I get so many weird annoying side effects, so thought maybe I could sleep through them. Has anyone tried this. Would the b12 totally wake me up or keep me up? Just curious if anyone had any thoughts on this.

As everyone is different it is a bit hard to say and it may well be worth trying it.

What symptoms are you getting beyond the nausea? Please remember that symptoms are your body's way of telling you that something is wrong and needs fixing so may indicate that there is something else going on.

Although it may be possible that the B12 is affecting your nerves that make you feel sick and dizzy, it is more likely that the nausea is caused by a folate, iron, vitamin D or other deficiency and, as the B12 works with other nutrients in your cells, your levels drop, making you nauseous as a symptom of that deficiency, rather than the increased level B12 itself causing it.

It would be good to get your folate, iron and vitamin D levels checked, and also potassium and magnesium, after a B12 injection. For optimum chance of feeling well, make sure you are in the higher end of the range for each of these.

Most of these deficiencies can be improved by adjustments to your diet (look them up online to see what are good sources of each that you might like) or by taking supplements if necessary, in conjunction with a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement.

Please let us know how you get on!

Good luck with feeling better soon.

I took one about 4pm the other day, I’d had one in the morning but was just so frustrated I was fatigued and symptoms were back after lunch. It didn’t really help and I couldn’t sleep - like I’d had too much coffee and so didn’t work for me!!! My feet weren’t quite to burning and my arms not so heavy in morning though.

I've tried different times. I've gone back to having them in the morning when most have been given. It takes 7 hours for me to feel it properly going in. Last one kept me the same. Not healed but not with the reactions that can knock me out for 2 days. So I'm hopeful next one same. So steadily improve. 🤞

I used to get a headache after every I jection and feel really ill. That doesnt happen now. I can feel dopey and 'out to lunch' can get tinnitus

I treat it as healing although difficult at times I know

The only time that didnt suit me personally was late afternoon at the surgery. I got very ' wired' in a horrid way when fatigued as about 9pm.

But every injection can be different so it's a matter of trying . My daughter has never had the reactions I've had shes only had being extra sleepy/knocked off for a day and not very time. I hope you get on okay . Take care.

We’re all different so I think you’re best trying it to see how it works for you.

I si twice a week, Tuesday evening as late as possible and Saturday morning, early. The timing doesn’t make any difference to me.

My sleep pattern has been terrible as I’ve been under a lot of stress recently and I had been trying to reduce frequency of injections ,it was poor timing,so last night after we got home from food shopping my husband said to me go and do your injection it might help slow you down and relax you a bit,in other words fgs get that shot done you crabbit bugger lol,any way I injected around 6-30pm I’ve always did mornings after my shower, and I slept like a baby last night and no nausea this morning.

It def helped me so I’m going to go back to increasing to every other day while I’m under this stress and try doing it at teatime instead of mornings and see if that continues to help me.as everyone says we are all different so it’s just by trying different things we find out what does or doesent work for us.I like not having to do the shots every other day but it’s obvious my body doesent like it so I have to continue with them and increase again.I hope you find your ideal pattern,I’d try it if I was you it may surprise you.good luck xx

So I self injected last night right when I started to feel sleepy. Slept good and feel less side effects today. So I will keep trying this and hopefully it continues to work for me. Thank you to everyone for your info and support.

Well done this is just one of those things that you have to do things by trial and error until you get the right solution for you.

Ive certainly felt better again since I injected in the evening I slept so much better and like you I’m going to try doing this for a few nights and see if it suits me better, just do what makes you feel comfy and best of luck with your choices x take care

I've had so many of them that I don't notice a difference anymore. Eventually once you start to heal youll just feel "normal" with them. I can have them at any time of the day and it makes zero difference.

Early on in my injections I noticed them much more.
