Spot on , luckymaria.. You don’t have to order 100 ampoules , unless you inject very regularly like me - I inject weekly. , so 100 last me for 2 years .They usually have a use-by date of about 2 1/2 years . They can be ordered in packs of 10.
Once you have injected a few times , your nerves will disappear . I will confess to having drunk a large gin & tonic before I managed to summon up enough courage to inject the first time !
I did look at a few videos of I.M. injecting into the thigh , but some were not so good . Best wishes . 👍💉
Hi luckymaria, I started this journey a month ago too and was very daunted by what I needed. I watched videos and luckily found a friend via Instagram who shared where to buy and what.
My ‘kit’ contains 2 different needles, syringes, b12 ampoules and sharps box.
I opted to go without wipes as some folk say it makes the needles sting as it drags in the antiseptic? That’s up to you I guess. No plaster needed though.
I inject SC so not IM as advised by my functional gp to ‘lessen the risk to nerve damage’ 🤷🏼♀️ I also bought the needles for IM for a friend.
I use 2ml, Luer tip, Emerald syringe.
27Gx1 1/2” Sterican needle (White) to extract from ampoule
25Gx5/8“ Agani needle (orange) to inject in tummy SC
For my friend IM I use the 25Gx1”
I ordered 100 of everything except the b12 as it comes in 100’s and I got 30 ampoules of b12. Just ordered some more as I feel I’m needing it every 5 days or so.
Just make sure the needle goes in at 90 degrees angle and once needle in be slow to push the syringe as if you do too quick it can feel stingy. It took me a couple of attempts before I was brave enough to put the needle in my skin. Once I actually did I was surprised to feel no pain. I really am quite scared of needles but this is reducing my fear. Good luck 😉
