Needle change

Hi everyone, as some of you know I’m pretty new to self injecting. I’ve been using the green needle to draw the b12 and the blue to I.M inject.

Apart from a couple of bleeds this combo has worked quite well but I’m considering changing my blue needle to orange (finer) just to be a little less painful.

I’ve looked on the Medisave website to order and only seem to be able to find 1” option. The blue I’m currently using is 1.5

My question is does the longer version exists and as I’m rather skinny would the 1” be okay?

Thank you in advance. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine 😎

Hi sally I’ve been doing my own injections for many years into my thigh and I just go straight in with the blue needle as shown by my doctor no drawing up or anything …

Wow! You’re so brave 💪🏼😃 I’ve been advised that you should use a separate needle in case it touches the glass of the ampoule, there for blunting it and making the injection more painful. I guess it’s trial and error, think I’ve read that someone uses a purple needle on here. So long as we get our precious b12 eh.…

Yes exactly and no pain will ever match being undiagnosed and in a poorly state unable to function or live a life!

I use a blue 1" needle to inject into my thighs, my surgery uses 1" for injecting into my arms. Like yourself my thighs are'nt very fleshy so no need for a longer needle.

I use a purple 1 inch needle for my IM injections. It’s finer than the blue one and I find it easier to do.

I use a green needle to draw up the B12 from the vial and then change fir the injection.

Is it finer than the orange do you know? I’m just worried the needle could break 😬

Purple is in between the blue and the orange sizes.

I think orange is only for SC injections?

Oh really? I hope not as I’ve ordered them. Pretty sure I saw an orange needle used for my covid vaccine. 😬

I use an orange needle 25G by 5/8" needle to inject into my thigh (that's 0.5 mm diameter by 16mm long). My thighs are not fatty and I find it easy and mostly painless. I use a 23 gauge blue needle 1 1/4" long to draw up the B12 .I purchase all my consumables from Medisave.
