Maybe my mother's doctor knew of this before withdrawing B12 injections 2 years ago, banishing her to be bed bound.

So sorry your mother was treated so shoddily jointpain
Good job this wasn't mooted back in 1972 when I was diagnosed with P.A.
Mind you I was offered to have to eat raw liver three times a day and "given" two years to live without treatment.
I wish you well.
Thank you Clive, my mum could be 93 if she lives till December. Her mother was given raw liver when she was diagnosed with B12 deficiency, my mum will only take what the doctor prescribes, even though he gave her a sheet of paper only a few weeks ago stating she was B12 deficient. He takes no notice of my input, I cannot report him without my mum's permission. He used to get the nurse to inject B12 every three months, until he "cured" her. Two years ago, shortly after a B12 injection, her blood test came back as normal, so he withdrew any more injections.
Are you a member of the P.A. Society? I costs but £20 for one year membership and maybe they could "have words" with the doctor concerned.
Interesting about your Grandmother
Have just read "evidence" from an advocate of tablets for treatment replying to "B12 Deficiency Returned ?" post below - where all those poor people eating raw liver were mentioned as part of the argument for tablets over injections - and now this !! Maybe you can enlighten us all on that post as to how much of a "cure" raw liver really was !
jointpain , I would agree with Clive that your next move might be to join the Pernicious Anaemia Society. You have hit an impasse with your mother's GP - and she deserves a better quality of life. You deserve some help.
I won't say what her GP deserves.
It is laughable bollox. It smells more than a dead rat with flatulence.
It was done it Mexico. It used 13 subjects. It used just macrocytic anaemia as an indicator that the Pernicious Anaemia had been 'cured' (macrocytosis is one of the last signs of a B12 deficiency). The looked at other things. MMA rose through the 6 months of the study period.
It's a complete load of rubbish.
I agree wholeheartedly with you, trouble is the medical professionals will set store in this rubbish research.
