Pain in chest after b12 injection?

I recently took 3 consecutive days of b12 injections. After the 3rd shot I started feeling extremely tired, high palpitations and pain in the chest area if I walk/move my hands. Any thoughts? I also have vitamin D deficiency but normal folate.

I’m no doctor but 3 trips to the clinic on consecutive days ... no-one really asks for that, and it’s understandable your body would rail against it. B12 deficiency also has an effect on your emotional wellbeing as well as physical symptoms. This can manifest itself as anxiety, mood changes, confusion, and anger, which could result in a panic attack which very often feels physical, like a heart attack. Hope this helps.

Thank you :) It only happens when I do any kind of activity so I was thinking it's probably not a panic attack. My heart starts racing and my upper chest area starts to hurt :(

I had my loading doses over two weeks at the beginning of this year, and I felt so unwell for a while after! I was taken in for an emergency ECG with chest pain thinking I was having a heart attack! I often get chest pains and sharp pains in my upper body, our bodies are different and all react to things differently! If it’s worrying you, there’s no harm in getting it checked! However I did have the same and felt awful, when the results came back my heart and chest was healthy and in normal range :) hope this helps and hope you feel better soon x

Thank you so much. It feels good to know I am not the only one experiencing weird symptoms :) I got so worried that I did not take my 4th b12 shot today. I was asked to take 7 consecutive shots. It would be very helpful if you please share with me how long you felt this way and what did you do to recover from this?

I ended up the same, I was too scared to go into my GP for my final injection so they let me have a couple of days break! With mine it died down after a week or two, however I do get it back when I’m in need of a dose! Our bodies do strange things sometimes, but hopefully it’s just a sign that yours is healing. I know how scary it can be, I’ve had many sleepless nights over it, really hope you feel better soon :)

Thank you for sharing your experience :) I am feeling a little better after some sleep though my palpitations are still there. Hopefully it'll go away soon.

When your body starts healing after being B12 deficient , I read on this forum that you can feel worse in many different ways . Those injections were starting to heal you and it manifested in the way you describe . It’s a quite common occurrence. But we all have different reactions . I’ve often read members writing in to say that they felt worse before they felt better .

I really think that was happening to you .

Penguin5129. I agree with fbirder .

It's never safe to make assumptions, where chest pain is concerned.

Please consult a qualified medical practitioner (GP, 111...or go direct to A & E if your chest pain and/or palpitation get worse).

Good luck.
