B12 deficiency query

Posted on pain concern site last week about various problems I had had over last 18 months (neurological musco skeletal etc which have by now covered most of body and resulting in more and more pain.

Please see this previous post for more detail.

I did ask my dr last week on phone app if I could have. B12 deficiency or pernicious anemia ( my mother had the latter) but he would not entertain it saying my recent blood tests fine - I said I was aware b12 test shows all bloods inactive or not and I said I was aware that B12 sometimes not absorbed in food due to gut problem and I had had this and diverticulitis for over a year and been taking naproxen and omeprasole for longer and now aware omeprasole can cause B12 deficiency

He asked had I got info from google as B12 fine and would not discuss further saying you have lots of things wrong with you.

I have seen where you can get B12 patches to help (or even injections) but am concerned that if I did this ( to see if it at least improved my pain and fatigue) I would cause additional problems if my active B12 level was actually ok.

This was the final comment I put in original post and I have had a reply suggesting I put on pernicious anemia site.

My tech knowledge not that great so not sure how to repost original one to PA site hence this post.

Thanks

Did the gp tell you your serum b12 test result?

Get a print off of your blood results.

Look at the Pernicious Anaemia society website for symptoms.

If you have another blood test get folate ferritin thyroid iron screen b12. Donr take supplements before this.

Do not get fobbed off.

Ask the doctor what is the under lying cause then. How are they going to treat you.

Get relevant referrals when you can .

Hooe you get answers

A b12 result of 'fine' can mean "Your B12 is well above average, no need to worry" or "Your B12 is just above the bottom of the range and we need to do more tests".

Get the actual result (including the units and range).

Thank you for your response - may I ask what the eye problem was as I had subjunctial ? haemorage five weeks ago had two yearly eye check told ok except for prescription change -have tried to adjust to new glasses( varifocals which I have used for years) but difficulty reading after few minutes ( long sight seems clearer)-have struggled since last week went back to opticians today as pupils appeared not to move when trying to use peripheral vision without moving head.

Optician won’t see me to check glasses or eye movement for another 5 days.

Thanks not sure what sinus mucocele is but as mentioned in other posts I have had sinus problems since April and as I told doc again last week ( having chased ENT for update) nobody will even exam me let alone get a scan.

ENT waiting list at least 15/-16 weeks and I was referred 3 weeks ago after asking dr yet again.
