£27.00 isn’t exorbitant, compared to what you pay at the so called beauty “clinics “ You need to know what sort of Cobalamin they use . NHS uses Hydroxocobalamin. A cheaper version is Cynocobalamin . Self- injections ,everything included, cost about £1.60 each . (Hydroxocobalamin)

fbirder in reply towedgewood

They use hydroxocobalamin, 1 mg in 1 mL.

They say that they are only supplying it to vegetarians and vegans who have been advised to supplement by the NHS. That’s despite their ‘Ambassador’, some extreme athlete saying he Has monthly jabs to ‘maximise his performance’.

Their product is no good for people with PA. At least they say it is not to be used for PA.

I’ll be trying to register with one of my online aliases tomorrow. See what their medic says when I say I have PA.

Did you register and what did they say about PA ? just out of curiosity

I emailed them.

They said that their product was not for medical purposes. Because it would be illegal for them to say it is.

I posted it as my pharmacist I use is very good I suggested he done B12 injections as some people where not getting them he joined this company so more people would find him he says he doesnt get as much as that but gives more people the option to find him, I have used this Pharmacist for over year now and the man bends over backwards to help wherever he can and when I told him abut what NHS was doing he said he would try help as many as he can, £27 isnt that expensive as other companies and the pharmacist assures me that he doesnt get anything like £27 hes just used it to reach out to others and he gave me the link to share , as asked him for it so could post to help others , I would of for sure had a few as took me 2 years to get NHS to listen and about 6 different Drs to get a trial and shown how to self inject, the others wouldnt even do 1 shot for me as they were clueless on PA and didnt know blood tests were flawed I did however find one in the end who gave me a trial, but if I had seen something this cheap at the time I wouldnt of been left suffering for 2 years when I had discovered why i was feeling so bad, I was suffering through ignorance of GPs i told him some people wanted to self inject but were scared and needed 1st shot done by profesional incase had allergic reaction and needed to be shown where it was safe to inject, and also some people were being denied them from NHS, He uses the same as what we are prescribed the Hydroxoocobalamin. when I was looking for private to get. b12 shot could only find expensive salons over £100 and online ones as bad, so was just trying to help others to get well . the guy in Vicars cross Chester is a genuine Pharmacist and if you are lucky enough to get to him you will see what a genuine nice pharamcist he is and bends over backwards, he is a man who loves his job and enjoys helping people , nothing sinister about him, maybe if you have 1 shot maybe have a deal with him, but youwould have to ask him that as dont know.. nothing sinister about him ,, the others on the website i do not know but Chester is good :)

Just a thought but no one should have their first shout outside of a medical setting because of the slight risk of reaction.

We got shots from a private doctor, £25. So £27 is a little high. The cost of an NHS shot, all in, is about £10, I understand, and pharmacists have a similar infrastructure, so I wouldn’t expect them to charge much under £17.

What I don’t like about this setup is that they say it is a supplement for vegans, and not available for medical purposes. Which I expect they have to say; but vegans can get what they need from oral treatment, so shouldn’t need injections.

But I think it should be fine for PA sufferers to use this service, if they don’t mind paying about £25 over the cost of SI; and it can’t possibly be for medical purposes, even for PA sufferers, as we are all getting all the medical treatment we need, according to the NHS, aren’t we?

So it follows that any extra injections we might have are non-medical, and so entirely permissible 😷😛😷

Before I started SI my local sports therapist (who is also B12 deficient) gave me an injection for £15 and supplied me with a further 2, to take on holiday for £25 as my order from Germany wouldn’t be here in time for me leaving. £15 is about the standard price in Glasgow so £27 seems a bit on the expensive side.

I can get my B12 from the pharmacist thats using this service to give B12 injections I get a private prescription and cost me £12.60 that includes precription and 5 ampoules of b12 Hydrox. . I myself couldnt find anything 2 years ago when I desperately needed a shot, only really over priced and if you got from an online blood service it was around £99 or more for one ampoue and a nurse to come to your house , I couldnt afford that,, I aslo couldnt get any GPs to listen to me that I had symptoms of PA and father had it, I just knew thats what I had and turns out I have got it as came up in a blood test I didnt even know I was having done, so at least I am officially diagnosed now

If you want an injection privately down south (I’m in Hampshire) you’re looking at £35!!!!!

Thanks for this. I’ve checked and my local pharmacy is on the list. I’m not brave enough to inject myself and my GP surgery told me I could take tablets instead of having injections - also said I could just buy them in the chemist. No suggestion that they needed to be high strength. Pretty poor really.

Thank you @Miss-guineapig , Yes that was my only intention , I did because I would of loved a place that would just do my 1st injection I was scared I may have a bad reaction thats why I never injected on my own 1st time, I had to wait 2 years to get a Dr on myside , I saw beuaty salons and they were charging £150 my way I couldnt afford that, so I was left quite unwell till I got a DR to agree to giving me b12 on injection, I get 1 a month but I self inject after that.. my intention was this seemed reasonable and really for those who would like to get that 1st injection out the way no other intentions, i would of loved this 2 years ago.. Thank you for pointing the reason out . much apprieciatted

This may be relatively cheap, but depends who you are making comparisons with.

You can get all you need to self-inject for about £1 per injection all in.

People who only want to help you wouldn't charge you more than that.

The desperation of others can be quite lucrative.

For example, some of the overnight price increases in corner shops for paracetamol early on in the pandemic.

Is there a list somewhere of private doctors, pharmacies, beauticians etc. who give B12 injections in various areas.

Pascha1 profile image
Pascha1 in reply toLilian15

I only know the one in Chester so if you live near that i can message the address . or maybe just ask your local pharmacist if they could precribe and give you B12 shot, they should be able to if they are a prescribing pharmacist.. good luck

It isn’t just Manchester. If you follow the link and put your postcode in it tells you if there is anyone in your area. I’m in Derbyshire and there were a few near me, including my local pharmacy. Personally if I’m have injections somewhere other than the GP I’d prefer it to be a pharmacist than a beauty salon!

They have pharmacists on that list I know the chester one is one, i cant talk for the others.. they must have experience in injections to be able to do them anyway, if beuatician they inject botox which they probably go on courses to do same as B12 no doubt, I also have heard dentists can give you b12 shots
