B12 injections

My b12 injections have been stopped for a year, last injection in March. Feel really ill, and when I contact doctor they insist I will have to put up with it, to be honest it’s got my depression and anxiety really high, don’t know which way to turn. This is in Scotland.

I'm not in the UK but I know there's a lot of guidelines out there that can be presented to your doctors. I've read about this on this message board and if you search around here you might be able to find them. I know there are a lot of similar posts about injections stopping. The other option is to self-inject like many of us do. You can get the supplies from Germany.

Hi,

"My b12 injections have been stopped for a year, last injection in March"

What reason did they give for stopping them.

Have you considered joining PAS who can pass on info and offer support?

PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society)

Based in Wales, UK.

There is a helpline number that PAS members can ring.

If you are struggling to get adequate treatment, might be worth speaking to your local MP or MSP.

Check your GP surgery is using the up to date BSH advice discussed in this PAS news item.

If you have time read the comments underneath the article as well.

I left a detailed reply about impact of pandemic on B12 treatment in UK in next link.

I wrote very detailed replies on another forum thread with links to B12 deficiency symptoms lists, causes of b12 deficiency, info about tests for PA, list of B12 books, list of B12 websites, more UK B12 documents, letters to GP about B12 deficiency and other B12 info including hints on dealing with unhelpful GPs, which you might find helpful.

Hi, I live in Scotland West Lothian, my injections were stopped too.

I sent an email to GP, they ignored it. Contacted Angela Constance, MSP and with her help managed to get injection in May.

Do not give up, get a copy of BSH guidlines 24th April your GP should be following this.

It is easy to be overwhelmed when your mental health is suffering.

If you can afford buy the B12 and self inject, also the PAS is a well spent £20.

One step at a time, there is so much information, it takes time to make sense. Take care.

Great advice.

Write to your GP. Make sure you cc: the practice manager, your MP, your MSP, the local press, radio and TV.

Explain in the letter that your symptoms have returned and that you are fearful of permanent nerve damage if you do not get treated properly.

Hi where do you get your B12 from and how much

Hi, I followed info on this site. Bodfield Apotheke, Germany, for B12 signed in and paid via Amazon. Then two sets of needles and syringes, a sharps bin and wipes from medisave, all delivered within a week. Total cost less than £80 for a years treatment if using once a week. Not too much when you realise your health is at risk. Less than what I have paid for 1 family meal out. My physical and mental health were really suffering, I am back in control.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for that . My doctor told me my B12. Is high .

I’ve been on injections for 10 years . I was told from the start that I would be on injections for life . Then in lockdown when my injection was due .. the nurse said .. oh your not pernicious anaemia anymore !!

I have at the moment pins and needles in my fingers and toes . So they said I don’t need any injections or tablets I can do without them!!

I’m in Clydebank and was having the same trouble. I’ve just recently taken my health into my own hands and did my first SI this month. I’m trying monthly to begin with to see how it goes.

Thank you to everyone, it has been a great help, they insinuated it is all in my mind. If only that was true
