Hello, i have done this before and just like checking in to see how many people around my age have PA. I was diagnosed at the age of 19 and just wanted to reach out to see who was also around this age with the same problems!

Hello! I’m 21 and also have PA! I was diagnosed early this year, have been suffering a little bit lately but just been told that I’ll be able to start my injections again soon rather that having to take the tablets :) if you what to have a chat feel free to pop me a message anytime! Keep well :)

Hi Dakota17777 I believe it is possible to be a baby with P.A. but whether it would ever be tested for it at that age is debatable.

You were certainly very young - do you have any older relatives with it as it can be "inherited"?

In my case the P.A. was caused by the removal of two thirds of my stomach due to a burst peptic ulcer in 1959 at the age of 17. However, it was 13 years later before I finally got the diagnosis of P.A. after two Schilling tests, one in 1968 which was inconclusive and the second in 1972 by which time I was 30.

I wish you well.

Hi there

I don’t have PA but my daughter is nearly 18 and was found to have very low b12 last year (around 97). She has had loading doses and then alternate day injections for a few weeks due to neuro symptoms (numbness in face and difficulty swallowing)...a range of very odd symptoms (but still decent energy levels strangely). GP seemed to then lose his bottle a bit and said he wanted to go to monthly which we are trying now. She also feels breathless and her iron is very low so supplementing that too.

She is very up and down - frustration as she wants to just be a teenager, which she does manage to do mostly.

I find this forum so so helpful but my daughter doesn’t like it as I think she gets scared as it can sometimes feel scary and bleak.

I feel for you as younger ones with this diagnosis- i just hope in the upside that you can get the best treatment and quickly.

Wishing you well
