Just had bloods done inc Iron & b12 but I’ve been taking berrocca for several months. any other way to test b12 without waiting 3months

If you can absorb B12 from the gut then taking the Berrocca will raise your B12 levels. Which is good. It means you can take the Berrocca and not worry about B12 again.

Hi thanks for your reply... fingers crossed I am absorbing it, how do you know if the b12 is active in your cells and working? I thought that taking b12 can raise the levels but not necessarily get into to the cells and work...?

It is possible, but rare, for B12 to have problems getting into the cells. Having lots of B12 in the blood and not enough in the cells is called a functional deficiency.

The best waY to check for a functional deficiency is to have an MMA test. Methylmalonic acid is a chemical used up in one of the reactions mediated by B12. If not enough of the vitamin is getting into the cells then MMA will not be used up and levels in the blood (and urine) will be raised.
