I am really confused about the differences between forms of b12. I was using methylcobalamin for a bit (was prescribed a multi use vial) and I think somehow it became destabilized and became ineffective. My injections just started not doing anything for me whereas before it was helping a ton. I was using methyl because I am skeptical about cyano but after doing some reading it seems like there should be no issue with using cyano form. Does anyone know if there’s any reason cyano wouldn’t be just as good as the other forms? I think it would be well worth using it instead just because of the increased stability. Hydroxycobalamin is not a factor because I’m in the US and have no way to get it at the moment. I do have some cyano laying around so I will be switching to that, but if anyone has some good reading or info to help put me at ease, I would appreciate it! It feels like when my injections don’t work well that my life is ruined until I get more, I really want to get this in order and start healing!

To note, I know the methyl became useless bc I gave myself a cyano injection today and felt immense relief comparatively. In the past cyano didn’t work too well for me but I am thinking now it may have just been old or bad, I got it online without a prescription from let’s just say a shady source, that was before I got a prescription. I was thinking at the time maybe I am somehow unable to “do” the conversions needed to get cyano to active forms, which is what led to methyl B-12 but the more I read about this the less likely it seems. And I can’t have my stuff going bad sitting on the shelf and leaving me unwell with no medicine. But I guess unfortunately it will be a trial and error situation, with the cyanocobalamin. I’m trying to be optimistic but it’s hard when I’ve hit countless setbacks.
I would never want to use B12 ( or any other injection material ) from a multi-use vial in a domestic situation . Can easily get contaminated , being opened and shut so often . Single use ampoules are the best in a domestic situation . Also Methylcobalamin is unstable and has to be refrigerated. Sounds like you are in the US . I think that you should be able to get single use ampoules of Cynocobalamin there
I have used both Hydroxocobalamin and Methylcobalamin, and was not impressed by the Methyl . Firstly being so much more unstable , having to be refrigerated , difficult to get hold of, experiencing no extra benefits from it and lastly much more expensive . Remember to take a modest folic acid tablet ,which works synergistically with B12 . Best wishes .
Here is why there is no reason to think that methylcobalamin might be better than cyanocobalamin. b12science.com/B12Science/D...
