High B12

I got my first b12 test on 27th april which was 152, immediately started mecobal inj 500mcg. Also started B complex supplements. At first i was given 7 jabs daily then 3 jabs weekly. Three days after my 3rd weekly jab got my blood rechecked and the result shows very high b12 1951 pg/ml and iron 69 (range 59-158).

I still feel sleepy, have pale skin and stomach gas/digestion problems.

The doctor is suggesting to stop all medication.

Is it normal for b12 to raise so high after injectiin and does the b12 deficiency symptoms takes longer to heal even after higher b12 values in blood?

Yes, your serum B12 should be sky high with injections.

Yes, it is very normal for symptoms to carry on even with very high levels. It's probably taken years for the damage caused to accumulate. It can take years for the damage to repair. Nerve damage may be permanent.

Ask your idiot doctor if they stop diabetics getting insulin when their blood sugar is back to normal.

Fbirder is right

I went through this battle starting in January. My level was 171. I had a lot of injections starting in March. My levels went sky high as expected. However, my symptoms got WORSE before getting better.. Finally in may I started to see some significant progress.

As of yesterday I'm doing really well.. fingers crossed.

It takes TIME TO HEAL. I met one neurologist that said it will take "months" to recover. He didn't say how many months because it's different for everyone based on their individual situation and chemistry.

Keep your levels high for months to let the nerves repair. Multiple doctors have told me this as well.
