The problem is if we keep staying indoors then gradually our immune systems will take a nosedive and it won’t just be Covid we have to deal with.
As long as we are sensible then no one should be stuck indoors week after week after month,it’s not good for our mental health, it’s got to be up to you as an individual of course but we have to get that balance.
If you feel you want to go to the practice to continue with your b12 then that’s your choice you’ve taken the necessary precautions so good luck with it and stay safe and well.xx
Thank you for your reply. I have no choice but to stay in at the moment. It was an eye opener to see how things have changed. While I was out I filled up my car and my tyres. Don't know when I will use the car again though. But it is there if needed.
This idea that our immune systems somehow become less effective if we stay indoors is something I've seen a lot of recently. And it's wrong.
Your immune system remembers things for a long, long time. Mostly forever.
Getting young children exposed to the world is a good idea, because their immune systems are still learning about all the nasties that are not there. But once you're an adult you've already been exposed to just about everything you're going to get exposed to.
Thank you for your reply. My immune system is weak, and I seem to pick up any infection that is going around. Plus I have an Alzheimer's relative to care for, so I have to try and keep well.
As I said mannequin18 you have to do what your comfortable with ,it’s personal choices at the end of the day and as long as you be sensible and follow the guidelines then I can’t see why you would have to remain locked up .take care.
So why then do we continue to need vaccinations well into our adult lives.
We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one and I for one will continue with my line of thought and keep my immune system as healthy as I can in whichever way I can.
I believe that because we now have a greater mix of nationalities we are exposed to different bacteria and virus daily so we have to be exposed to this in our everyday lives to build up that immunity even as adults.
I respect that your the scientist I’m not but you have to respect you will have differing viewpoints, the world would be a boring old place if we didn’t.take care.
"So why then do we continue to need vaccinations well into our adult lives."
The only vaccinations we need as adults are for new viruses. Like covid-19 and for new variants of the influenza viruses.
Flu viruses mutate much faster than other viruses, which is why new strains appear each year, many of which require a new vaccine.
Loneliness can lower the activity of the immune system. Not being exposed to pathogens that you've already been exposed to cannot. reuters.com/article/uk-fact...
