Oh my goodness - “They” are at it in Italy as well as the U.K. Oral supplementation will only help you if you have B12 deficiency due to dietary reasons . If you have Pernicious Anaemia , injections are the only help . This directive ( giving tablets to P.A. patients instead of injections) has now been rescinded in the U.K. .IF YOU HAVE PERNICIOUS ANAEMIA , insist on injections . There is no solid scientific evidence proving that oral supplementation works for P.A. patients .

Ah ok and thanks for your reply, was curious and yes I do have P. A. so maybe it will be better with injections then, oh dear I was so excited too, never mind, thank you again!

Thank you for your reply, I can still have injections if I wish, here there is no problem like the U. K. I read here that folk are refused treatment, it's disgusting when you think of the price of B12, it's not as tho it's an expensive treatment, I pay about 12 euros for 6 ampoules, which is cheap I think!

There has been a lot of research - though generally small scale studies - on the use of high dose oral in patients who have absorbing B12 though the normal mechanism. It can work. It can be effective but what gots lost in translation is that significant numbers of people don't benefit from it - think there was one study in Canada where about 1/3 decided that it didn't help them and wanted to go back to injections - I've probably got it saved somewhere but it would mean going through a large number of bookmarks to identify it. This study is interesting because a major factor in it was patient preferences rather than using dubious measures like effect on serum b12.

All you can do is try it and see. Good that you can go back to injections if it doesn't.

Thank you for that, time will tell if taking b12 orally will work for me, but yes I am lucky that I can choose to have injections again if not!
