B12 loading and not feeling better

Hi, I had my loading doses of b12 at the doctors practice around the start off March, and due my next injection 8 weeks later around 5/6 May. Since then I’ve felt exhausted and breathlessness at times I just wondered had this any link to having the loading doses? I was taking folic acid and had enough potassium during loading. Just wondering what’s happened since the injections 🤔 my folate was 11.9 before loading.

We all react at different rates, but if you still have any neurological symptoms then the advice is to continue loading until they resolve.

Having said that your gp may well not agree or even know that is the case.

My ferritin dropped for some reason after loading doses. Good ti check that and full iron panel. Perhaps you needed more ? I wad worse before improvements . I waited 6 weeks after loading and got them restarted as many neurological problems. Then the slow recovery started.

If you have thyroid issues too I think symptoms overlap and hard ti get the right balance of everything.

It takes time and alot of note taking.

Healing happens in various ways and not in a linear line for most.

Hi I am starting to think it’s my iron levels are the issue and since the loading they’ve dropped like you say. I had bloods done last week as I felt so ill and looked so so pale and sick.

My iron was 16 and my ferritin 24 the 3 months before I had them tested they were also low and as low as this if not lower.

Can’t seem to get iron levels higher despite two ferrous fumarate a day and Gp won’t send me to a haematologist😳

I take ferrous fumerate. Somewhere I read it's good ti take them on alternating days. The day off I take solgar gentle iron and spartone. My ferritin 39 . Was originally 61. Hb has always been fine.

I have vit c with iron rich foods ect.

Personally if I can stay around 40-70 it's okay.

Liquid iron may help?

Took ages to raise levels. Also had to raise vitamin d . Folate has been okay. As have other minerals

Not sure why but white blood cells high for a while now back to 5

With all the iron and b12 rich food my cholesterol has gone high though.

Cant win!!

I've not had a referral to a haematologist either.

Iron.

You might want to try Carao juice/nectar is you can find it. It is a Costa Rican staple.

I know someone who could never raise her iron with anything, over decades (so low she had pica as a child) And Carao worked. It was a game changer for her.

(Linked for information purposes on the fruit but this was the company she used)
