Does anyone know if there’s a connection between B12 deficiency and Raynaud’s phenomenon. I have both but wondering if they are connected?

I, too, have both. But I've not been able to find any evidence that they may be connected.

Mine went after I started taking nifedipine for my blood pressure. But the drugs worked too well on the BP and I started getting hypotensive spells. I went off the nifedipine and the Raynaud's came back.

Interesting thank you. I’ve got the pins and needles in my feet which I had right at the start of PA but then largely went. The only thing I’ve done differently over the last few weeks is increase injections from once a week to every two days so also not sure if that’s connected. I’ve got really tight muscles and it causes very deep pain in my back and shoulders (I think that’s what it is) and the increased injection regime was to try and alleviate that. Too early to tell.

Thanks for responding. I will see what happens.

Stay safe.

Hi,

Found an article that you might find interesting

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/120...

Thanks that’s really interesting. So no obvious link to B12 but a link with increased homocysteine. Which sort of makes sense. Not sure there’s much I can do about it. Definitely feel stress plays a part though so perhaps try to manage that down. Thanks again.

I have both and never found that b12 injections helped my raynauds.

Had Raynauds since I was a teenager.

Actually, I forgot to mention. My Raynauds started up just after I started B12 treatment. I don't think they were connected, but mine certainly wasn't caused by a deficiency.

I'm not sure what age you are but I was told raynauds starts early on in life as a teenager or later (mid life) whatever that means hahaha and perhaps quite possibly that means there is a connection.

I use to drink and smoke and when I quit my raynauds didnt change.

However I have just thought about a time when I was very poorly and underweight and my raynauds was at it's worse and this was before I started b12.

It's never been that bad but I have gain 1.5 stone since then. More meat to keep me warm.

I'm not helping much here am I haha.

As with everything b12 it's time and patience I guess.

Thanks. I’m in my early fifties but always had cold extremities even when I was growing up.

Yes I notice mine more since being b12 deficient.

I have noticed many suffering with Reynauds on Thyroid UK Forum. Having one auto-immune condition can often lead to another - like Hashimotos - the most common thyroid condition globally.

Often testing of the thyroid is inadequate and rarely tells the whole story. Obtaining copies of your test results with ranges will enable you to monitor your own progress and check what has been missed ...

Am wondering if your Folate , Ferritin and VitD have also been tested.

Hopefully the extra injection will be helpful.

I've wondered this too.

I'm disappointed that I missed your post before but pleased I've found it now!
