Hi All,

Saw this link on a recent thread and thought I'd draw attention to it.

I had both dementia symptoms and tremors when at my worst and suspect that sometimes people are misdiagnosed with Parkinsons when it's actually B12 deficiency.

I think there are case studies in Sally Pacholok's book "Could It Be B12" about people misdiagnosed with Parkinsons.

I can understand some people being misdiagnosed. I've noticed that many of the people I've met have something very similar to the shuffling gait normally associated with Parkinson's.

For us it's caused by poor proprioception in the feet and ankles caused by a lack of reflexes.

I wondered if B12 deficiency can interfere with dopamine production.

I have read that loss of dopamine producing cells in the brain is what causes the symptoms of Parkinsons.

This link which is about OCD and B12 deficiency mentions that B12 is a co-factor in production of certain neurotransmitters including dopamine.

I believe anyone with Parkinson’s and illnesses such as MS, Dementia, Altzheimers, Motor Neurone, Chronic fatigue, Fibromyalgia and anything from head to toe to do with neurological/ nerve Pains, tinnitus and no doubt more should all be tested, in fact I think we should all be screened for both vitamin B12 and vitamin D too, the same as we are screened for other illnesses that they are so quick to screen us for such as stool screening, prostate, smear tests etc..
