Is there any way to self inject in the US because you have to have a prescription to obtain b12?

Self injecting in US
Talk to your GP. I live in WV and self inject weekly. I buy a box of 100 insulin syringes directly from the pharmacy.
Diabetics self inject so everything is in place.
The prescription typically comes for a month at a time, but recently changed to 3 months worth. Insurance covers most of the cost but with the recent changes, more is being applied to the deductible so I had some sticker shock this last time as a new year started.
My GP wants to test liver function etc each year and I’ve convinced him that any further B12 testing will show high results.
I keep a logbook of symptoms and report to my GP any time a new symptom appears. So far all symptoms are improving but at a snails pace.
I take supplements and tell the GP everything I’m taking.
This has been working for me for 10 years.
A prescription is also required in Canada , unfortunately . I can only suggest vitaminB12online.com which is a company in Australia which sells all 3 types of injectable B12 namely Methylcobalamin, Hydroxocobalamin and Cynocobalamin . Prices include shipping . ( no prescription needed in Australia) All single use ampoules , which are really the safest way to self inject .
You could also try mycare.de , a German online pharmacy ( no prescription required in Germany ) Its the only German pharmacy that I know of that will ship to USA , but shipping is expensive . They supply Hydroxocobalamin and Cynocobalamin in single use ampoules .
You can also try vitaminquick.com , a company in Florida , but they only supply Methylcobalamin.
Best wishes .
All morning I have been trying to find a post from the other day where I think you also listed a Canadian company who sells multidose vials of cyano. Maybe it was someone else. But it sounds like I wouldn't be able to order them from the US anyway.
I quietly placed an order with mycare.de, and they cancelled my order a few days later saying that they do not ship to the US, which made me very sad. I'm having such a hard time. I was getting injections from a wellness spa but they didn't know the methyl needed to be refrigerated, so for 2 months now now I've been getting worse using degraded methyl from prefilled syringes from multidose vials at the wellness spa, paying $10-15 per injection, every other day! (I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working until I read a post on here about the refrigeration. Now that it's refrigerated, it seems to work better but I can't afford to keep doing this.) I was really, really hoping Germany would ship to me.
Trying to access single dose vials on an adequate timetable in the US has been impossible and very stressful.
I can think of an Australian company you can try . They certainly ship to the USA , but I really wouldn’t bother with Methylcobalamin. A scientist who posts on here tells us it’s no better than Hydroxocobalamin, ( he explained exactly why , but I can’t remember ) which does not need refrigeration, and is cheaper . Look at vitaminb12online.com . Hope you have success. Hydroxocobalamin is used here in the U.K. Cynocobalamin injections are not used in UK anymore ,
Best wishes .
Why methylcobalamin is no better than hydroxocobalamin, and may be worse...
I find that so odd that mycare.de don’t ship to USA , because they quoted the price for shipping to USA ! It was expensive .
Dako17777 are you not able to get a RX in the US? What is your situation? Have you tested positive for PA? Or low B12? Or do you feel you need because of symptoms? Most docs in US will give a RX if needed. Good luck to you .
Yes there is a way to do B12 injections in the US. Do you have any specific questions?
I order from a place in Vancouver Canada. Have had no problem getting it as they label it Vitamins
Buy-otc.com has been great to work with. So much cheaper than my copay would be in USA and no hassle
There is a lot of discussion about cyano vs. methyl vs. hydro. I disagree with anyone that claims cyano is better, or that methyl is always better. There are numerous reports of people that improve and maintain using a combination of both. Since I am doing daily SI, my nephrologist strongly recommended that I try the methyl variety so that I am not exposing my already damaged kidneys to very small amounts of cyanide on a daily basis. But, my point is to be open to trying different things since not all people are the same. Now, on to your real question. I have used this pharmacy in Canada as a source for cyano. biosenseclinic.com They sell 10 or 30ml vials. Syringes and needles are easy to source through Amazon. Price is very reasonable and they were reliable. I have sense switched to a locally compounded Methyl-B12 SQ daily and it seems to be better for me, but YMMV. It is much more expensive (about $130 USD/mo) and has to be kept in refrig, shielded from light. The pharmacist provides .1ml of the compound, pre-filled in a tuberculin syringe with a short 27g needle for SQ injection daily. Vitiminquick.com is another source, but I have never used them. Science is often black and white, right or wrong. People however, are not. Everyone is different. That's why they call it practicing medicine!
Good Luck!
Happy to help you order, but the vials contain 10 doses. I haven’ t found that to be a problem. I live in Florida, where are you?
Consider educating yourself about B12 deficiency by buying Dr. David Brownstein's book called B12 for Health. I have followed his recommendations and am feeling at least 80% better, and improving. He can't help you GET the injectable B12 but his information can strengthen your discussions with your doctor. I pushed and got my doc to prescribe me B12 in a vial, I order my own syringes, but I am lucky to have a doc in the family who will prescribe off the bottle my doc prescribed, since she hasn't prescribed nearly enough for how often I inject. Stick to your guns, check out the online sources suggested but avoid cyanocobalimin as per Dr. Brownstein. Good luck!
Hi, yes you can order from B12vitaminstore.com. They are reliable and ship usps in the states. You do have to buy your own syringes and needles but that is quite easy these days via online stores such as allegromedical.com - hope that helps
