Help with Self Injecting US

I'm from the US and struggling to get access to my B12 injections. I used to go to my clinic each week to get them but now I'm out of state and am trying to set up mailed injections. Many pharmacies nearby like CVS or Walgreens do not carry them in stock. Going through my insurance is unhelpful at best (because of pharmacy stock issues and complications). I started this process 3 weeks ago and still no sight of b12 injectable doses on the horizon. At this point I'd buy them online. Where is best to get them? I checked b12vitaminstore and it will take 2-4 weeks at soonest (but more like 3-6 weeks). I can't wait that long. My depression's bad right now and I don't believe it will improve at all until I get these injections going.

I’m in the U.K. , but I know that you can access B12 Cynocobalamin from Canadian pharmacies .

Supplies for injecting B12 in USA .( Canadian online pharmacies ) using Cynocobalamin B12 .

biosenseclinic.com Has Cynocobalamin in single use ampoules ( safest method) and multi-use vials .Also have needles

canadadrugsuperstore.com

Has same as above .

buy-otc.com

Also have multi dose vials and single use ampules .

——————————————————————————

Single use ampoules are the safest to administer B12. Several use vials are at greater risk of contamination in a domestic situation , where they are not very rapidly used .

_____________________________________________________

bulksyringes.com has needles and syringes

allegromedical.com ditto. ditto

shopmedvet.com ditto. ditto

It is safer to use single-use ampoules than multi-use vials in a domestic situation , because of the danger of contamination, and the fact that a vial is not used up quickly in a domestic situation , unlike an ampoule which is injected within a minute of being opened .

——————————————————————————

Looks as if mycare.de. (A German online pharmacy) will deliver to USA

Do register ,by clicking on the silhouette at the top . When entering your address , enter your country first using the drop-down list The USA is referred to as “ VEREINIGTE STAATEN von AMERIKA . Then the computer will accept the rest of your address .

You can obtain Panpharma B12 depot ( Hydroxocobalamin) single use ampoules 1mg. X1ml

And Hevert 1mg x 2ml “. “. “ “

I don’t know shipping costs .

—————————————————————————

B12 can be administered by either an Intra-Muscular or a sub-cutaneous injection .

For an I.M. Injection a 25G x 1 inch needle can be used .

For a sub-cutaneous injection a 30G x 1/2 inch needle can be used .

A long coarse needle , say 21G x 11/2 inches long, can be used to withdraw the B12 from the ampoule. This is needed because the needle is made blunt by touching the ampoule . This would make the injection painful .

This information is supplied to you by a private individual , who has been self-injecting for eight years, using single -use ampoules.

Best wishes .

Purplegirl2 Are you on hydroxo or cyano? All the canadian ones are cyano as far as I know.

In the past I've been told about b12-shot as another canadian source. They have both multivials and single use ampoules. These are also all cyano.

b12-shot.com/vitamin-b12.aspx

You may want to try googling "b12 shots near me". You will likely be able to find a wellness spa that gives them. It can be pricey but needs musts... when I went last year in Georgia, it was about $20 for one shot, if I remember correctly. They would give them once a week without a prescription, and more frequently if you had a prescription stating the frequency. The one I went to had cynano 1mg/mL and methyl. To give you an idea of the type of place I'm talking: see hydralivetherapy.com I've been to several of these places and the staff are always very friendly and helpful.

You can ask naturopath doctor to prescribe B12 methylcobalamine, but it's just muscle injection. Take that prescription to compounding pharmacy and if you have insurance ask for coverage. Some insurance also cover naturopath doctor visit.

Be aware that some people do not do well on methylcobalamin (and of course some are absolutely fine). Just be aware if any side effects happen to arise.

Also, I don't know where you are in the US - but just in case you ever cross the border in the future or have loved ones that do, a cyanocobalamin vial is very cheap here, those online businesses really jack the price up .

Once you use the long course needle to puncture the ampoule what is the process to transfer it to the sub-cutaneous needle?

wedgewood profile image
wedgewood in reply toPurplegirl2

No , you don’t use the long coarse needle to open the ampoule . You open it by breaking off the neck at its weakest point where is is marked with a spot . That needle is used to withdraw the B12 from the ampoule , because just touching the glass ampoule with a needle makes it blunt and will result in a painful injection . Then you use a finer shorter needle to inject . I know thar in the US. a several use vial is used , , but for safety reasons we don’t use those in U.K. . B12 is only obtainable here in single use ampoules .

TO INJECT INTRAMUSCULARLY

Flick the ampoule to get all the B12 into the bottom .Open it by either wrapping a swab around it to avoid cutting yourself , or use an ampoule opener . Break it at the weakest point , which is marked with a spot on the neck of the ampoule

Use a 2ml syringe .(with a 1ml syringe ,it’s impossible to get every last drop of precious B12 out of the ampoule!) Fix the withdrawing needle on the end of the syringe . Pull out the plunger on the syringe and SLOWLY inject air into the ampoule . Now pull out the plunger and all the precious B12 will be sucked up into the syringe . Now take off the withdrawing needle and replace it with the injection needle .. Now gently press out the air in the syringe , until a tiny bead of red B12 appears on the needle tip. 💉

YOU ARE NOW READY TO INJECT INTO THE VASTUS LATERALIS MUSCLE. ( it’s nearest the surface of your thigh in the middle outside third of your thigh - look up info online .There are also diagrams of the thigh and the muscle ) Inject at 90 degrees .

For sub cut please refer to internet , as I’ve not used this method , or ask members on the forum .

After injecting please dispose of needles into a yellow sharps bin .

Hi, I am also in the US, I buy my vitamin B12 from: vitaminquick.com/ bocavitamin.com/https://per...

Purplegirl12, Don’t give in to depression and the like, yes easier said than done, but, with GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBE🙏 I have been dealing with PA, since 2021, I was healthy, active and had a sex life. I developed GERD, My GP put me on PROTON PUMP INHIBITORS, never warning me that PPI’s, stop the absorption of Vitamin B12. Then started the numbness in hands, difficulty walking, pins and needles, fatigue and feeling weak. I

now self inject B12 methylcobalamin and cyanocobalim, subcutaneous, 1ml, alternatively EOD, improvement is happening, got worse before getting better.

I purchased all b12 from the above mentioned sources.

Whatever stay in faith and Prayer. You will recover!

Hi, I’m here in the US. I get a prescription from my doctor that has take to any pharmacy and have filled. I ordered 20 vials of cyano for my daughter from biosensor and received it quickly.

Purplegirl2 Do you have a prescription? I am in the US and self inject Cyanocobalamin every three days. I have a prescription from my neurologist and just get it filled at Walgreens. So far, I haven't had any problem.

I do but the CVS has been out of stock for a long time. I tried to get it sent to walgreens but then seems like CVS might be back in stock? I’m literally crossing my fingers hoping I get it this week because I feel so terrible. I didn’t improve that much on weekly cyano in the past but at this point I’m desperate to even get once weekly. My goal is to ideally get twice weekly because it will take ages until all my red blood cells replace and I get my symptoms improved.
