Hey! Does anyone else suffer with their speech? The rare occasion I cant get out what I want to say which is really upsetting and frustrating as you can imagine but other than that, day to day, I know what I want to say but everything comes out all mumble jumbled or slurred? Any advice/help possible would be much appreciated! Thanks

Are you still on 8 weekly b12 Injections?
If so you need to go back to your doctor with your list of symptoms.
Trial having more frequent ones .
It is possible to get them more regularly.
I was told doctors can treat in an individual basis .
Hioe things improve for you.
I know it diesnt feel like it but its early days.
This used to be a sign for me that I was due a jab - I could start a sentence and then not finish it. People at work who knew about my condition would say to me ‘are you due an injection soon?’
I now get weekly injections and for the most part this doesn’t happen, but sometimes it manifests itself if I’m tired or over worked.
Thanks for your help! I have noticed I cant get the correct words out my mouth when I'm due my injections just really frustrating in the meantime with slurring word, specially being a driving instructor 😣🤦♀️
Hopefully you can get some more frequent injections - try your GP or consider self injecting - you’re in the right place for advice on both counts. I got my GP to agree to more injections by getting my occupational health department at work to do them for me, which is more convenient for me, and less pressure on the surgery. Good luck.
Yep! I would just go blank in the middle of a sentence. Or can't find a simple word. It's right there but I can t find it in my brain. And I would stutter often. I very rarely notice even the slightest issue now. But it takes every other day injections to keep things working well.
I had nominal aphasia- the inability to remember names - I would begin an acedote only to end up jabbering as I was trying to speak in close procedure. It started to mend fairly quickly after injections but it still resurfaces.
Hi,
Yes I had speech problems such as
1) going blank in the middle of a sentence
2) not being able to find the right word (nominal aphasia)
3) slurring
Thankfully as long as I have plenty of B12 these are no longer a problem. The issues come back however if I go without B12 for any reason and I need far more B12 than is recommended in UK guidelines.
If you are having neurological problems (and jumbled speech might well be a neurological problem) I would query whether you are getting enough B12 .
How often are you getting B12 injections currently?
1) UK recommended treatment pattern for B12 deficiency without neuro symptoms is ...
6 B12 loading jabs over 2 weeks followed by a jab every 2 or 3 months
2) UK recommended treatment pattern for B12 deficiency WITH neuro symptoms is ...
A B12 loading jab every other day for as long as symptoms continue to get better then a jab every 2 months
You may be able to persuade GP to repeat loading doses if your symptoms have deteriorated.
It's also important that other possible health issues that might affect speech are excluded.
Have you been referred to a neurologist?
Have you considered joining and talking to PAS?

I suggest you have a look when you have time.

Yes I forgets words and what things are called it gets very frustrating and I feel like an idiot sometimes x
A few days after I was diagnosed but before I received my first injection I woke up completely unable to speak and could only make babbling noises. With injections I improved very quickly. Two years into treatment and I have trouble with names but my speech is normal.
