B12 Loading doses

Hi, I’ve had two loading doses of b12 this week and have 4 more left. Due to the nurse being the only one who is available to give the injections, I am having to have the next two loading injections next Tues & Wed and then the following week again on Tues & Wed. By then I will have had 6 injections and then go to 8 weekly injections. Is this going to be a problem? I’m aware the usual protocol is loading for two weeks, Mon, Wed, Fri but I can’t have that, thanks for advice. I previously posted about preferring to do weekly but for some reason my nurse thinks it may be better to do it this way? I am happy to change the appointments to weekly if people think that may be better I am new to all of this, thanks☺️

I would be quite happy with having my six loading doses over three weeks instead of two. I would prefer to have them over three weeks than five. You really do want to get levels up high ASAP. But one week's not going to make a huge difference.

Thank you, the nurse said I was best to do it this way to get the levels up ASAP. Is it ok to have them Tuesday and Wednesday next week and then the following week same again Tuesday as Wednesday - Without a day break in between? Do I need any folic acid? My folate level was 11.9 so not really low but not in the upper third quarter thanks ☺️

It's perfectly fine to have them one day apart.

Your folate looks OK. But measured levels of folate can bounce around a lot depending on how much you've eaten. You almost certainly don't need any extra, but taking a low-dose supplement of 200 to 400 mcg a day shouldn't hurt.

Thanks very much. I will keep the appointments as they are then, I’m sure I will have sore arms having one Tuesday then the next day on Wednesday both weeks but can alternate arms 😅 I will take 400mcg folate I have just got some of that. Thanks 😄
