I've had it since ivd been b12 deficient again ths Gp has never given a possible reason for this. I've not been able to use the landline but can could use the loudspeaker on my mobile when necessary. Recently even that had sent the tinnitus up a decibel??Never had such a troublesome head!! Mh glasses remain clamped like a metal vice which I'm sure doezng help. They are in fact well fitted and as loose as tjey can be. Anyone else have this??

Perhaps I should add (for anyone reading) if taking a drug that can potentially cause issues, it may be possible to change to an alternative but please do not stop taking medications without discussing with a medical professional.
Also worth considering asking your GP for a referral to ENT (if you haven’t had one or been) if this continues. There are many possible causes of tinnitus (including B12 deficiency) and ENT would be able to investigate and rule out (or in) other potential causes, and also advise re: masking devises / other strategies (use of white noise, habituation, etc.) and issue hearing aids, if required.
Some causes are idiopathic (no known or identifiable cause)....but some are treatable, so worth accessing specialist advice for this.
Yes. Along with headaches feel like I'm in a pressure cooker at times.
Thank you for the link.
I asked many months ago for a referral to ENT.
The different doctor I saw at the time to do the Epley manouvre (which he didnt manage!) said no to the referral as I hadn't taken the medication he prescribed for vertigo.
I didnt take it as if was for nausea and wasnt sick with it?? I was very passive as at the time and just accepted the no. I may revisit this!
Btw Thd Epley manouvre does work. It was diy again . Took 3 goes at home.
I have had tinnitus for a long time, b12 injections haven't made any difference.
I did go to see a tinnitus clinic a couple of times. The sound box which sometimes helps you to let go of the noise and get relief at night didn't help me but it does help some people and is worth trying.
She helped me to understand tinnitus better. It's like for some reason a switch goes on in our head and switches it on (it's the sound of normal things going on in your head and nothing to worry about) and once on it doesn't usually switch off again.
Nowadays I can largely ignore it and it doesn't worry me. It's a bit like having someone in the house that wants a nightlight kept on but you like the dark at night and find it irritating but after a while you get used to it.
Yes although I can sort of choose to ignore it, any sort of head, neck or ear pain makes it much harder to do and it can be quite overwhelming at times.
I tell myself that it's causing no harm and try to shut it off but it's harder said than done, especially when you're feeling down or unwell. Hope you can find some relief from it xx
