I've had weekly injections of Methylcobalamin for some months now with quite good results although neurological symptoms are still present. I'm planning to si twice a week to see of I make progress.
Right now I'm a bit confused. I think someone on this forum said it's better to use methyl if there is a suspicion of MTHFR. But someone else said it doesn't make a difference as everything will be converted anyway. As Methyl gives me the side effect of anxiety, I'm wondering if I should switch to Hydroxo...? If I have MTHFR, would Hydroxo help me as well as Methyl? Also, I am unable to take folic acid or methylfolate as my stomach's ruined and both make me very sick. I think someone said with the Methyl shots I could do without the folate..
Thanks as always!

Hydroxocobalamin should be just as good as, if not better than, methylcobalamin.
Everybody has MTHFR. It is an enzyme essential to life. Almost everybody has a mutation in the gene that makes that enzyme. Very rarely, one particular mutation, carried by around 10% of the population, may possibly cause a problem. For those people supplementing with methylfolate might possibly help. Taking methylcobalamin cannot possibly help.
No matter what type of B12 you take you still need folate. It is responsible for making some of the parts that make up DNA and also for one of the mechanisms that the body uses to switch various genes on and off.
