I have posted about this subject before but am wondering if when you get spots from the b12 injections if they calm down after the loading dose or do they stay the same ? Also do they flare after every top up injection you have. Feeling very self conscious

They normally disappear for good after a week or two.

people vary - some do experience spots every time they have maintenance doses. so, not really possible to give a definitive answer. One possible cause is that micro-organisms on your skin react by secreting toxins. The immune system can go into slight overdrive when you have been deficient for a while so some people get a double whammy which then subsides. Others are more sensitive to the toxin so react every time they have an injection. Others are less sensitive to the toxin and don't react at all .... and its the majority of people who fall into the last group.

Because the most likely cause is something that is going on on your skin, it may be worth speaking to the pharmacist and ask them if they are aware of a suitable was that could help.

They do calm down. I still get a few post injection but rarely on my face now. Usually neck.

Hi, I've had some very painful spots on my scalp and just behind my ears. I'm a 55 year old male and have never had spots in these places before. For and I have no idea if its related, mine flared up once I started folic acid to support my B12 injections.

It has taken three weeks for my scalp to ease, but all seems fine now.

For me they flare up when I up my b12 dose but they do subside.

I notice they dont stick around as long as what normal spots would and I find a soak in the bath with Epsom salts tends to dry them out.

Perhaps leave them to take their course and not aggravate with any lotions and potions 😬

Mine took 10 months of every other day injections to go. I’ll admit they were awful and nothing helped, but then they went. I would go through having them again as it meant my health improved so dramatically. I was very low on B12 and really unwell before I started injections, so maybe that’s why they were so bad. I hope they go away for you soon.

Mine are on my scalp mostly but also on face and some times on my hands, arms etc... Since my first loading I have never been completely free of them and they get worse after each injection and flare up more about a month before next one so constantly an irritation for me. I had terrible Acne from a teenager well into my late 30's and was so pleased to finally be free of this until I started my B12 journey and wham they were back. Very depressing as my 3 monthly injections dont make me feel a whole lot better generally speaking so the spots are an added symptom now....
