Spots after B12 injections

I have just finished B12 injections 3 times per week over 2 weeks. I finished on the Friday and on the Sunday I came out in white spots all over my head. Will they go away? The next shot will be in 3 months. Thanks

Hi KaiserKasie001 a wiser person than I has posted previously:

B12 Side effects

The pimples/acne, is likely to be caused by microbes on your skin reacting to the additional B12 by producing substances that your skin is then reacting to. In theory this could be resolved by use of a good skin wash. You might have better luck talking to your pharmacist and seeing what they can recommend prior to your next maintenance shot - though there is always a chance that it was something that won't recur.

Hi!

I get this when I have enough B12 and supporting supplements to make it work properly. It was really bad to start with and painful too but gradually cleared up as my B12 treatment progressed.

I only get an odd spot now if things come right after a problem spell so I almost welcome it now - it's usually a sign I'm going to feel good!

As Clive says, treat your skin directly to improve that and make sure you get plenty of B12 in future.

I've been getting 4 shots a month so roughly every 2 weeks I have the worst outbreaks of spots I've ever had. It's soul crushing. I've spent a fortune in the pharmacy trying everything. I recommend the effaclar range in the la Roche posay products, there's facewash/masks/moisturizers that all mattify the face. I ended up having to get an acne cream from my GP called duac because it's so bad but I've only started using it so no change yet. If you're not due a shot for 3 months id imagine your symptoms will be a lot less and clear up much easier though!

Hi,

It's often caused by the body detoxing the homocysteine, an amino acid linked to heart disease when raised. It should settle down soon.

The guidelines have just been changed for frequency of injections so you can now have injections every 8 weeks. If you have neurological symptoms, the NICE/BNF guidelines are alternate days until no further improvement.
