Have you got a copy of the poster, and booklet? I'd be interested to know what info and who did you speak with to get this permission?

I can't see my surgery agreeing to it - they won't recognise I have B12 def, in spite of blood results and seeing me much better than I've been in years!!!

Hi,

Wonderful news, hopefully it will help someone else Nackapan.

Love to hear if anyone else has success getting posters accepted somewhere.

Tried to get a local library to put one up on the wall in the past but they just put it in a file with other posters.

When I am able will get some on school notice boards. I used to work in school health and they usually have an area on a board on health issues, head lice ect.

The nurse that does my injections has had her child tested and hey ho needs b12 injections so its happened already. I stand out when I go in as not only do they remember me unable to walk without bouncing off the walls but i wear a big hat and very dark dark glasses too! My street are all taking B12 as shocked what's been happening to me.

I know more and more people as I walk rounder the block almost daily .

So pleased to read you've already helped someone in addition to all the people you help on here.

I asked a local vegetarian restaurant to put a poster up.

That's a good idea.

I also plan at some point to see if any of the local homes for older people will take a poster as I strongly suspect there's a lot of undiagnosed people with PA/B12 deficiency in those.

Might ask the local MP to put one up if they're willing to.

Good stuff. If we all do something in our areas it would be wonderful.

Awareness so important.

I'm still shocked it sneaked up on me . Like everyone is.

I went for screening when called. Mammograms ect. Yearly blood tests. Took an 'over 50'multivit. Addressed low vit D. Altered diet ( menopause) SNEAKY is the word as you go downhill until 'bang'something gives.

I'm also trying to get it included if people turn up for their 50+ health check. No mention of b12 .It should be on the 'risk factor' list.

Along with cholesterol checks ect.

And if it is actually on the blood form would be ticked more often!

Nurses are receptive to improvements to screening and proactive in meetings.

I was involved in changes to screening children under 5 . A long slow process. Changes do happen though, and

if b12 on the agenda enough times things will start to roll out.

I'm on a mission now.

Starting 'to wake up' after a blurry 12 months .

Well done, I spoke to the practice manager at my surgery and got a poster put up in the waiting room, I also managed to get one in the staff room at the ambulance station, The more we can get out there to raise awareness the better.:)

Great. Ambulance station a very good place. Front line staff awareness.

I wrote to PALS at the A and e I went to.

As classic signs missed and told I was having a panic attack. Also paramedic on phone cancelled ambulance on way called by 111 as deemed unnecessary. I remember saying feebly not a light decision to call as never have done it before for me. (Well call made for me

Never felt so let down) was grateful for CT scan they did when my sister got me there . But even having to crawl ,shaking to the loo didn't ring any alarm bells. You couldn't make it up. In hindsight a wonderful thing. As my pupils were so dilated I imagine e they thought I was on recreational drugs. As I remember saying repeatedly on no medication.

Did get a reply to say not in their remit to add b12 to bloods taken

They could've at least said get bloods dive at GPS !! Could be b12 defiency! ! They didn't know. It was a gp who finally wrote it on the blood form.

This story could be repeated all over the world I expect.

The Sally Pachlock film demonstrated it.

Prevention rather than cure is so much better.

Let's get everyone motivated.

That's great. Now I'm thinking about where I can have one of the posters put up. In the meantime, I'm trying to get the word out about B12 every time I can. My husband calls me a B12 militant.

I met a woman at a museum this summer who was using two canes to walk. As we started talking she mentioned that she had had gastric bypass surgery a year ago and her health had been failing since then, hence the need to use canes to walk now. I asked if she had her B12 checked and she said yes it was very low but she was taking oral supplements. I launched into a B12 lecture and told her the oral supplements were probably not doing her any good and she needed shots. She said her doctor had recommended shots but she didn't like needles. I hope I scared her into getting B12 shots. I think I need to get a t-shirt that reads, Have You Had Your B12 Levels Checked?

I've just had an electrician rpund to try and sort lighting.

Turns out he was at same school with me. He a vegetarian and wanting to go vegan.

He was asking me what had happened to me.

He left with one of the leaflets

sleepybunny left the link for and will be buying some b12 tablets!

I like the t shirt idea

That's great. I put one in my window as our window goes straight onto the pavement with a route to the station, so lots of people. I printed one for the surgery but then didn't take it, perhaps I should have a go.

Maybe someone who is cleverer than I can come up with a great B-12 deficiency slogan for a t-shirt. Sale of the shirts could help fund B-12 deficiency research and education.
