No More Anemia. Thrilled

Hey guys,

After being deficient for 10 years, I've been on here for the past 4 months struggling with a whole host of b12d issues (left leg muscle wasting, awful digestion, low libido, frequent nighttime urination, problems with temperature regulation, depression) but the most confusing one was the persistent anemia. My first blood tests back in April showed full on pancytopenia (RBCs at 3.93, HGB at 12.7, HCT at 36.2, and WBCs at 3.1) and b12 at 159. My neutrophil WBCs were low at 1463 as well (sign of b12d as well). This anemia was persistent for months which had me questioning whether I was on the right path.

I took 1.5 months off from any blood tests as I suspected at least part of my anemia was from too frequent blood tests. I took a follow up set of blood tests early this week and just got the results back. I'm excited today it appears my anemia has fully resolved. This gives me confidence I'm still on the right track.

My digestion is in no way good and my left leg is still nowhere near back, but I feel hopeful for the first time in in a long time. Thank you all for your help and support. You guys have been great so far in my recovery journey and I truly appreciate. I'm a long way from healed so I'll continue to be around bothering you guys but a small victory goes a long way for morale.

What did you do ?

We would all like to know. Have your symptoms gone or are you going by the numbers on your blood test ?

Hey Ryaan. My symptoms associated with the anemia have gone (fatigue, lower body weakness, some depression, lightheadedness) but others still remain (slow/poor digestion, left leg muscle wasting/nerve damage, low libido). I've also been able to gain some weight which is good. But man this is taking some time. I've been on heavy b12 supplements for 4 months now and things are going so slow it's hard to notice even on a weekly basis. I had cyanocobalamin injections EOD for 3 weeks and now I'm at 2 per week with daily oral b12. My injections now are methylcobalamin which tend to make me feel better. Long way to go though.

Thank you Nackapan. You're a kind soul. Long way away from back though so I'm not going anywhere.

I'm feeling better on a higher dose of iron too. Less weakness in my legs. Less shaky. Bloods will tell. I've a long way to go too. Little steps and achievements so important on this rocky road.
