Most people should be OK with 400 mcg of folic acid a day. Very few people may find that methylfolate works better.
I would recommend trying folic acid for a few months, switching to methylfolate for three months, then back to folic acid. Then you can decide if it's worth paying ten times as much for the methylfolate.
I used 400mcg of folic acid and my bloods showed it went from 9 to above 26. Si i take less now.
