PIP?

Has anyone included their B12 deficiency in a claim for PIP? I have a claim in for something else but wonder if I should have mentioned it.

Mention everything. PIP is a tick box criteria. It's a very unjust system. I know someone with motor neuron that wasn't awarded it. Appealed twice for my friend and went to court once. (When I was well!)He can't work. Has 3 firm diagnoses that are notortiously dibilitating. The judge was sympathetic. I hope ot goes well as a very stressful procedure.

Thank you both. My appeal date is in 2 weeks! I'm going to ask my rep if we should mention it at this late stage, if not I will save it for when/if I need to reapply. I'm not feeling hopeful about it because most of my medical notes refer to anxiety as my problem, and I was referred to health psychology for health anxiety. He didn't actually think that was my principal problem, and referred me on to psychology.

Meanwhile, my consultant (for physical problem) thinks I'm totally fine except for my anxiety! One GP wrote down "personality disorders" as my presenting condition and now it's stuck on my file forever. I have a rare genetic condition which few doctors understand or have heard of. I don't mention B12 deficiency to them any more but I feel that I haven't been the same since my diagnosis. I am easily fatigued, can't tolerate much exercise, and can't function without 9-10 hours sleep. I feel cold all the time and have issues with my feet. Meh. Sorry for moaning! I'm having an off day. 🤒😫

Don't tolerate the medical profession undermining you and trivialising your condition. This attitude has to STOP! Never give in. xxx.

If you go on @workandbenefits website, there is the criteria for PIP. It shows the point scoring system for eligibility.

Thanks everyone I have a representative from an organisation called Fightback who are helping me with my appeal. I did the first stages on my own and then enlisted their help for the tribunal. So we'll see how it goes! They do have a high success rate. There is very little in the way of welfare help in my area and I don't think CAB are able to help that many people at a high level, they're just so overstretched. If I lived in a city I'd use a law centre but the nearest one is too far away. I felt I needed legal help with it because it's quite complicated.

Yes put it down alongside any other illness you may have,i had my assessment 4 weeks ago and the assessor asked how my b12 def and pa affects me on a day to day basis alongside my other illnesses,I’ve not had my decision yet only a notification they’ve received my report and will contact me with the decision, they seem to be turning a heck of a lot more people down more than ever before,is this something they’re doing in the hope lots of people won’t bother going through the mandatory reconsideration/appeal procedure, where i live,in the past few weeks or so there have been a few people, named and shamed I might add, being prosecuted for dishonestly claiming pip, either working, doing activities they claimed they were unable to do etc, these are the people that make it so much harder for people that genuinely do need disability benefits to help to make life a little easier and more accessible every day, instead we all get tarred and feathered the same as these benefit cheats, anyway rant over I hope all goes well with your assessment and that you don’t have to go through an appeal of any kind.best wishes...fenty.

I've been through the assessment and mandatory reconstruction and my appeal is in 2 weeks. But I've been lucky in that my tribunal is only 9 weeks after I submitted it. A lot of people are waiting a year or more. Good luck with yours 🙂
