B12 pregnancy
Hi Zoe99 according to the book “Could it be B12? – an epidemic of misdiagnoses” by Sally M. Pacholok R.N., B.S.N. & Jeffrey J. Stuart, D.O. 2 on page 86 it says "Pregnancy can dramatically worsen a pre-existing B12 deficiency, because B12 is transferred to the growing foetus throughout pregnancy"
I guess that as you are already in need of B12 supplementation you will probably need to continue with the injections.
You will also need to have your Folate levels checked.
I am not a medically trained person and wish well
Contact MTHFR Support - they are based in Sydney Australia and can do video appointments if needed. Specialize in pregnancy. Have a look at their website and see what you think. I have been following Carolyn Ledowsky for about 12 months now and found her presentations very informative.
I found your question interesting so I just googled B12 deficiency and pregnancy and found this article in the BMJ, bmjopen.bmj.com/content/7/8....
Congrats on wanting to add to the family. I had severe b12 deficiency that was diagnosed during my pregnancy.. i did the cynocobalamin injections and all of the loading doses during my pregnancy. My baby is amazing and healthy about to turn 2. I was unable to breast feed due to severe nutritional deficiencies no milk came in. Post partum i required daily injections to avoid severe neurological symptoms. I hope this helps you to feel better about the supplementation during such an exciting time. All the best.
