Waking with numb arms
your sleeping position is probably trapping a nerve. If it resolves when you move then what you need to do is avoid sleeping in the position that is causing the nerve to trap - not always easy, I know.
This isn't a problem unique to people with B12 deficiency/absorption problems
Yes i have experienced this for a couple of years. Pins and needles in my left arm. It wakes me, and the position i'm sleeping in at the time would not account for it, ie trapped nerves.
I've only been on two weeks of loading doses of b12 (S.I alternate days), and there have been days when that numbness extended into daytime. I've put that down to often symptoms worsen after treatment. Today my left arm is fine. Hoping it goes away completely with time.
I was experiencing these on a regular basis. It was exactly like you have described hand would go numb and when if I move it few times it would become good. Now after starting my b12 injections I am feeling lot better.
Thankyou yes i had my loading doses 11 weeks ago all side effects have passed except twitches,,heavy legs and numbness in arms whike sleeping but have just started oral b12 so hopefully will pass, was to afraid to have another injection as just getting over last ones but so far no side effects from oral, so fingers crossed
