Hi I was diagnosed with pa two years ago after a reading of b12 of 60. I had the normal loading doses and have an eight weekly si which gp allows me to do. The problem is that I have no sense of smell or taste. Is this linked to pa and if so what can I do to improve this. Thanks in advance.

Smell and taste
Hi Karrianne, I remember reading that deficiencies in B12, folate and iron along with other vitamins can affect your sense of smell and taste. Maybe take a multi-vitamin? Also, maybe ask to have your other vitamin levels checked. I have had that weird sensation of eating food and not tasting it but it has gone now after I've had a lot of injections and take folic acid , iron, and multivits. I am far from medical but hope this helps a little. I wish you well and good luck.
Thankyou I take iron and a multivitamin daily. Folate readings are within range.

Whilst B12 deficiency can be associated with loss of smell and taste there are many things that can cause loss of smell and taste - have you spoken to your GP about investigating?
Yes I was prescribed a nasal steroid spray for a couple of months which made no difference at all. Thankyou I shall return to go.
