WARNING: Spate of Inappropriate Personal Messages Being Sent to Female Members Across Multiple HU Fora: Do Not Respond - Report (as below).

Hi All

Just to make you aware...multiple HU fora are reporting that inappropriate personal messages are being sent to female members.

These messages often start as 'friend' requests and are highly personal and intrusive in nature, often asking for personal and intimate information.

There is also concern that if correspondence of this type continues, this may develop into 'scamming' behaviour , with resulting requests for money (medical expenses for a sick child, relative etc.).

We Admins are monitoring the situation and will obvious restrict anyone suspected of this type of behaviour. However, people who behave like this often join the forum and simply use the private message system to contact others - they rarely post or reply to others in the public forum. It is therefore quite difficult for us to spot if inappropriate activities are taking place 'behind the scenes' via private messaging.

If you do receive any personal message that makes you feel even in the least uncomfortable, please do not reply.

Please report the message via the report button that appears on the top right hand side of the message (note: this report button only appears the first time you receive a message from another person). This report will go directly to HU - simply fill details about your concerns in the message panel that appears after you have pressed the report button) and press send.

Unfortunately, forum Admin do not receive notifications about reports that arise from private messages (as we do for reports from the forum). So, if you do receive one of these messages and report it to HU, please also send a message to either myself or Gambit62 so that we can restrict the offender (while we investigate) and also post a notice on the forum to warn other members of suspicious activity via private message functions.

So...keep safe all and please remember, if you receive a private message that makes you feel even remotely uncomfortable, then this is not appropriate and should be ignored and reported.

Thank you for the warning Foggyme, will let you know if I receive anything. Usually if I get a friend request I check their profile out before accepting and unless I am sure they are OK I delete that request. Such a shame that these nasty idiots want to spoil things for the rest of us. Thank you again for looking out for us x

Thank you for the warning Foggy , also lots of hoax calls going around again at the moment saying they are from security companies.
