My suggestion is that you join the Pernicious Anaemia Society. They deal with cases like this every week. It’s amazing what a phone call to a practice manager can achieve.
You might have to join the SHS - the self help society, do-it-yourself isn't only for plumbing.
You have to fight your corner as my mother also had similar treatment and she was told (after about 25 years of B12 injections) that her bloods were 'fine' and she needed no more injections'. Both my sister and I thought that was good news - little did we know what was ahead.
Despite many visits to GP after the withdrawal of B12 not one seemed to look at her notes to see she had P.A. After some time complaining of painful stomach and getting prescribed anything but B12 she developed stomach cancer and died. A regret both my sister and I had, but we thought doctors knew best particularly with a B12 deficiency. As I have P.A myself now I know not to take notice of anyone suggesting lowering or stopping my B12.
Thank goodness for the internet nowadays.
Comments/advice from those who know better than those who are supposed to have medical knowledge about common conditions that can lead to more serious problems/illnesses/death, but who appear to be very, very poorly medically trained.
I have found out today, that instead off having my b12 injections every 8 weeks, that it will be every 12 weeks now. Don’t know what to do, and reading your letter I am worried, as I feel ill now. They said it is new guide lines. This in Scotland.
