Hi have started self injections alternate days I’ve had 20 so far, I was not diagnosed B12d deficient but after feeling so unwell for so long with crushing fatigue lethargic, zero energy weakness dizziness I decided to get a copy of my blood results and found my B12d at its lowest was 265 and last test November was 280 I learnt from Facebook support groups that my B12d was low and I should start self injecting, this was a huge challenge for me self treating something I had no diagnosis of but I had to try something, my intrinsic factor was normal active B12d was good also at 112, my question is now I’ve started injections is it too late to have the MMA test I wish I had known about this test before injections 😢 I’m not convinced it’s b12 anymore
Many thanks
Claire

Hi B12jab. I am sure others with knowledge and information will answer you soon. But as I'm also on TUK your name rang a bell with me and we seem to have similar problems.
I know very little but did you ever have blood tests for the full thyroid panel and also FBC ?
From what I have read (and I am such an amateur) a lot of the symptoms are so similar with these problems - and just makes it difficult to find the cause for us who are suffering.
Most importantly, are you feeling any better after your 20 injections of B12 as that is a valuable pointer to B12 deficiency as I understand it.
Not much help sorry, but no doubt you will get a lot of good advice here. best wishes j x
I had a low B12 on a private blood test that my GP picked up on. I only had this private blood test to check my thyroid, never considered any vitamin deficiency, so that was a surprise to me.
I have been on 1000 mcg oral cyanocobalamin plus B12 Boost oral spray and Igennus B Super B Complex for 5 months now. My active B12 has increased, but seems well below yours (though I don't know your ranges of course). I still have a number of symptoms neurological and physical/mental. Enough about me
From what I have read test results would be wise to take you in the right direction - do you have any? The private blood laboratories recommended here and TUK are very good and might provide some answers for you, though having B12 injections will affect the results so better to stop injections and wait a few months before testing B12 again? Hope I am not giving bad advice here. . best wishes j
