Nutrient testing... how often?

Hi everyone. I am curious how often you test for vitamin and minerals as well as just a regular blood panel (CBC)? I wanna make sure I am on the same page as my doctor, or that she is on the same page as me :)

Aside from iron and calcium, both of which I have had prior issues with, my GP and Gastroenterologist only test for my full blood count and B12 levels. And even then the ferritin/iron and calcium doesn’t always get included.

Only when I have had private treatment for other things have other things like Potassium or Magnesium been checked too.

How often do they test for the full blood count?

They don't very often I've had it added to make sure anot her anaemia hasn't started . As I've read that can come after b12 defiency.

I'm a bit confused with so many anaemias and the symptoms overlap. Fbc should change too often. I've included it on the blood test is had last!

Sorry too many typing errors . Fbc should not change too much. But when I'll it could in my book.

Usually just once a year when I see my gastroenterologist but at the moment they are doing it monthly given my iron and calcium issues.

Hello Shaylynn.

Every time I've had my bloods done recently I've added things on like ferritin levels pottassium magnesium folate vit D. I've done this as I'm now taking supplements. Also I've read on here how you need to keep track on folate . Also pottassium can go down /get used. I might be ott but until I settle to a routine they have been monthly.

Doctors poo poo lower level so of say vit D. If I don't see a doctor the plebotanist normally obliges.

I also do get them printed off. There has been significant variants since I got ill . I will stop when things settle with symptoms fingers crossed and then intend to get blood done 6 monthly unless I ill.

I'm not medical but muddling through like we all are to get some life back.

Personally I would only go for tests if I thought there was something wrong.
