I am due to have my first VitB12 injection on Monday and wondered if I should talk to the nurse about taking folate? I notice from many posts on the sites that wise members suggest it. I am not low on folate (last blood test) and I don't have enlarged blood cells. Just in case this adds to the picture.
Thank you..

If you're not deficient then there's no real need to take a supplement just because you're getting B12 injections. It's not going to increase your body's need for folate by much, if at all.
However, it can't hurt to take 400 mcg of folic acid a day. It's cheap (get them from the chemist) and recommended by the NHS if you're female and of childbearing potential.
I was both B12 and folate deficient and had to get my B12 stores high through injections before they gave me 5mg supplements for folate. Like the others say if you are not deficient then maybe it’s not needed as injections are intramuscular so bypassing the digestive need for folate anyway.
