Hi there, I'm coming to the end of my 6 injection loading dose (one more to go and self injecting); I still have pins and needles in my hands and feet, but feeling better than I was a few weeks ago. Any tips on how to progess once I've given myself my last jab? I'm a Pilates instructor and going back to teaching classes next week (only 8 a week) and I do find I'm feeling tired if I try to do what I normally do. Any advice would be appreciated.. thanks 😁

Carry on the loading doses until you no longer see an improvement in your symptoms.

Then inject as often as you need to keep symptoms at bay.

Thank you! I wasn't sure about continuing 3 x's a week SI after the 2 week period...

Hi 0406 It really comes down to "pacing" oneself. I find if I overdo things one day it takes me two or three to days to get back to "normal" (for me that is).

Did you supplement with folic acid or have you been able to stuff yourself with enough leafy green vegetables to deal with your Folate deficiency?

I am not a medically trained person but I've had Pernicious Anaemia (a form of B12 deficiency) for more than 46 years.

I wish you well.

Thank you...I'm trying to eat as well as I can, but I think it will take a while to feel fully 'myself'. Didn't want to keep injecting too often even though I know I can't overdose!

Sadly I didn't get proper loading doses, 1 a week for 4 weeks. I took folic acid 5mg. After 3rd loading dose I really crashed, zero energy, it was frightening. I decided to self inject as I thought my body was trying to repair but didn't have sufficient B12 to do it. On average I inject weekly or fortnightly depending how I feel. I take the folic acid for 48hrs before and after injecting. This works for me, just listen to your body and pace yourself.

Thank you...the most difficult thing about this situation is that everyone is different. I'll do my 6th injection tomorrow (no luck with anything from my GP) and wasn't sure where to go from there. Still feeling light headed at times, particularly when I'm tired and have pins & needles in my fingers and toes, particularly at night. Will continue with the loading doses as per the NICE guidelines. So grateful for this web-page and everyone's advice :-)
