Low b12 caused by h.pylori bacteria in upper gi tract.
I started getting symptoms a few weeks after having appendix removal and just put it down to stomach upset. Ive also had colitis for 20 years so I was used to bathroom issues causing stress and anxiety. However it got to the point wherei couldnt get out of bed, this was new to me. Doctors put it down to stress and gave me anti depressants for years because I couldnt sleep. Only after 4 years did I get diagnosed with h.pylori by stool antigen test. By then te symptoms included tinnitus and tingling in hands and feet. Ive just finished second course of triple therapy for it and waiting for results. Ive taken every suppliment available which didnt cure it but did cure my colitis. I started self injecting b12 and most of my symptoms have gone except tinnitus which as got worse but im told sometimes they get worse before they get better. Bottom line is I have to get b12 on line because docs dont recognise I have a deficiency or tested me for PA but I know I have it.

Thanks for telling us your experience . We gain lots of knowledge ftom hearing reports like yours . Yes it is tragic what some people have to go through before they can get proper treatment even if it has to be self-administered . But some people never even get that far and that is so very tragic .Keep persevering, and you will hopefully get rid of your tinnitus. Very best wishes .
B 12 serum tests are often misleading. What matters is not the level of B 12 in your blood, but how well your body is UTILIZING it. Since you have H Plylori, you have malabsorption problems. Even with the appendix removal and the h plyori treated, you will most likely have a malabsorption problem for life for any kind of vitamin and mineral, not just B 12. So a good test to ask for in regards to B 12 that will tell your doctor how well you're body is UTILIZING it called a homocysteine test and MMA test. (MMA stands for methymalonic). While it's best to have the two done together, doctors are pressured to keep costs down and only do one. If they find something abnormal with one test, they usually run the other. An astute doctor will at least. The problem is most doctors aren't educated about B 12 and malabsorption issues. They chalk off to: Eat a better diet and throw some godamn B 12 supplements at you! Or anti-depressants as in your case! Studies show that 30% of psychiatric patients have low B 12 and it does not even occur to physicians to check for B 12 deficiency! So run this by your doctor. Print out articles on the importance of MMA and homocysteine tests. If he or she continues to turns a blind eye, ask for a second opinion by another doctor or switch doctors. You can do this in the UK, cant you? Were allowed to do this in the US. I'm in the throes of convincing my own doctor of MMA and homcystein testing! Its an all too common, sad scenario for us B 12 deficient patients! I have malabsorption issues myself and slow international bacterial issues, Candida, God knows what else, and have to convince him to test me for THIS! Make sure you take Apple cider vinegar with sludge at the bottom to balamce out your PH so the bacteria in your gut and colon doesnt get out of control. Wattch your diet.and be wary of sugar and bad foods that cause bacteria to multiply and fester.Take probiotic and prebiotics, which ever applies in your case. Their are also enzyme supplements you can take that will help you digest your food better and keep bacteria levels down. I'm going through this hardship myself. Been there, done that. And proton pump inhibitors are very bad for bacterial growth issues...
Thanks for that Diane. I thought I had homosistein issues and also issues with my endoctrine system. My adrenals are shot as well as my thyroid as well as , I think pineal gland which is causing my horrendous tinnitus. It really is making me feel suicidal. A relentless chainsaw inside my head. The candida diet ive been on has cured my colitis but still have stomache , digestion issues. Just waiting now for stool antigen test results and when I see my doctor I will mention the mma and other test. Thanks for the info.
Your welcome. I wish you the best and know how it is with the thyroid thing to. I take medication for low thyroid. Low thyroid can cause depression. And too high thyroid can make you anxious and jittery. I can see where an off kilter thyroid can make a person suicidal. But usually low is assciated with depression, and depression leads to suicidal feleings. One not need be a "mental health" patient to feel suicidal if your thyroid is off! So maybe getting this rebalanced will hopefully result in you feeling better. 🌈🌈😁💗☀🌠🌻🌲🍓
Thanks for the link. I read it and its informative but the article doesn't say what the symptoms are. My stomach has been upset lately and I've have been alternating between constipation and something else. I'm having a lot of unusual symptoms lately (I'll spare the details. Gross) and think I may have an infection but don't know for sure...
Ive had bowel trouble for years and the symptoms are different from upper gi tract h.pylori infection. Urgency for the toilet, blood and mucus in stool.h.pylori feeling like vomiting after eating ,bloating and excessive burping. Because h.pylori kills your stomach acid your protein enters your small intestine only partly digested. This causes a build up of bad bacteria and fungus which feed off it causing leaky gut. Add to that damage to your parietal cells and its no wonder you have malabsorption issues. This knocks your endoctrine system out of kilter and leads to anxiety and depression. Until the bacteria is killed you will have digestion issues.
