Yes, headaches were definitely a symptom I was getting just before my deficiency was discovered.
Everyone recovers at different rates, so it is hard to say how long it will take for you to begin to feel better. It seems like many doctors ignore the need for loading doses. I wasn't offered them either and I struggled for months, although a few symptoms did slowly improve over that time. I did eventually get loading doses (after changing doctors), and then I was finally able to get my symptoms under control. I also had to learn to pace myself, because the injections would give me a burst of much-needed energy. If I wasn't careful, I would do too much and it was as if I had completely run out of B12 again well before the next shot was due.
Headache - yes. My B12 level was down to low 60s before diagnosis. Almost invariably, I woke up with a headache, which tended to lay me low until mid to late afternoon - completely pole-axed. Eventually, on treatment with regular B12 injections, that symptom has gone. Another symptom, one of a number, was a peculiar whooshing or pulsating tinnitus that I had. I still occasionally get a hint of that when particularly tired or stressed.
I wish you well for the future, in your likely struggle to obtain on-going treatment appropriate to your personal needs.
