Me again ! New and second post
Hi Kaw142 I'm sorry to see you are struggling with your symptoms and can only suggest you re-read the responses you got from your first post.
Treatment of a Vitamin B12 deficiency is not an overnight cure and a lot will depend on how long you have been deficient.
If after your sixth loading dose and there is "still no further improvement" you will need to tell your doctor so that the loading doses can continue in accordance with the N.I.C.E. guidelines.
Make a list of your neurological symptoms to show your doctor.
If possible take someone with you who can validate your symptoms e.g. seen your shakiness.
You may also need to ask to have your Folate level checked.
I hope you start to feel better soon.
I am not medically trained.
Quite often people get worse before they improve. Getting to be deficient creeps up on you over a long period of time, and the same can be said in the opposite direction.
What made things very much worse for me was clinging on for 3 months for the next injection: rapidly deteriorating, until the next injection became of no real help.
clivealive is right- keep symptom list and records of frequency and severity, tell your GP as soon as possible if things are getting worse, and take a witness: sounds ridiculously OTT, but especially important if you have cognitive/ memory/ anxiety problems....10 minutes can fly by if you are struggling to understand/ recall/ stop crying !
Records also help for those times when you are in the doldrums and can see no progress: you can look back and review gradual improvements to symptoms.
Take it easy.
Thank you xx last injection Friday and docs booked for Monday morning. Iv started a list already of what was going on that led me to go and also how I have been the last 2 weeks whilst having injections xx will keep you updated
Do keep us updated.
Many GPs and consultants do not seem to realise quite how many symptoms can be involved with b12 deficiency - quite often, I had to check with people here because the medicals think it is all tiredness and tingles. Check B12 deficiency symptoms listed by voluntary organisations that have researched this: Pernicious Anaemia Society, B12 Deficiency - and compare these with the ones produced by the medical profession, and you will see what I mean ! So don't be at all surprised if on Monday, some of your symptoms are not recognised as related to your deficiency... thinking it might be a good idea to print one of these lists off and highlight the symptoms that you can relate to, as back-up confirmation.
PS: I was off sick for 15 months, but I'm back now on a phased return.
Thank you x I’m having trouble walking down stairs as my knees are so weak and painful. I have made lots of notes for the doc on Monday and I will mention HealthUnlocked.com. to him as I have learnt more about b12 and all the symptoms aswell as side effects. I’m glad I joined as really felt like I was going mad with my symptoms. I know it’s early days but I’m determined for my doc to not sweep me under any carpet . As a single mum with a home and animals I need answers from him. I may have to try and claim some money whilst I’m unable to work as at the moment I’m living off my savings . Xxx thank you for everything and everyone’s posts. I will keep you updated x
I still get that sometimes, Kaw142 , but no longer severe or frequent, and stiff hurting feet have gone completely! No longer have to start my day with a long bath just so I can move either.
Take it easy. Someone on here once said to me (can't remember who now but it made me laugh) that if a GP or consultant is talking rubbish, she just says "Rubbish".....for which there is no answer!
