B12d, ADHD or both

You wait for a bus and.......

My daughter has been having concentration issues so we organised some testing for ADHD. In the mean time while they were dragging their feet, I got a blood test to rule anything out. Results come back low B12. Without going into the disgraceful treatment from the NHS, she started B12 SI yesterday. (The second shot she did it herself, really proud) PA was confirmed by a Private Dr. NHS diagnosed anxiety disorder.

Today we got an email from the ADHD testing team to say they are going to diagnose her with ADHD and want to refer her to a Dr, to start treatment. What the he’ll is going on!!!

Not sure what to do. Any advice appreciated.

From what I see lots of young people have deficiencies in vitamins and it shows in school/colleges and shopping malls. Ensure that vits B12, Folic acid and D are well up.

Also that there are no GI tract issues. Frequently malabsorption of gluten and dairy are associated. which means avoiding them. If the medical practioners were serious about ADS they would long ago have approached it from the causal and not prescribing pharmas products.

Totally agree. It could certainly be a B12 deficiency.

But don’t rule out the possibility of it being both.

Follow the advice of beginner1 and keep up with the B12 treatment. If it seems to be working then you can tell the ADHD doctor that you’ve fixed the problem yourself. They may want to rerun the ADHD tests again to be sure.

But, I would start looking into possible, non-chemical, treatments for ADHD just in case the B12 doesn’t improve things.
