Insomnia after B12D treatment?

Hi all. Did anyone experience insomnia once starting treatment? I took my first B12 shot today and an oral supplement this evening as per my doc (had to go to another store to get it). I have had severe fatigue and pain for weeks now. The pain abated to manageable, but the fatigue is still overwhelming. The problem is, now I can't sleep.

Yes I did get that at the start of treatment. For me it improved so have a few hours in stretched now . Still overall need much more than before.

I have had mild RLS for years, usually not bad enough to keep me awake. It got significantly worse when I was doing the frequent loading doses, but is back to what it had been now that I inject once every 2 to 3 weeks.

What form of b12 for shot and pill? Are either of them methylcobalamin?

Everyone is different but I couldn't sleep with methylcobalamin in my system.

Yes, I also did. Like my brain had been switched on and electrified. It was odd but went away.

I have to do my injection either in the morning or last thing at night otherwise I can’t sleep no matter how tired I am.

I had that problem when I first started receiving B12 shots. It usually lasted for a couple of nights after the shot. I think the B12 was healing nerve endings in my brain because it felt like my brain wouldn't turn off. It really isn't a problem now but I do have some sleeping problems because of old age, I think anyway. Try taking a calcium/magnesium supplement before going to bed. Also, make sure you're getting enough potassium (through food and drink only.) I've recently started taking two tablespoons of tart cherry concentrate before bed and it seems to be helping. Other things to try are tulsi tea, Calm cbd oil, lavender spray on your pillow, etc. Keep trying things and see if anything helps. Good luck.

Yes I also suffered from poor sleep throughout my initial course of 6 injections. The nurse at the GP surgery hadn't heard anybody else complain about poor sleep but looking at this post it would appear not uncommon. In my case sleep went back to normal after the round of injections. Good luck and hope you get some rest soon!

Yes I have had the same problem. Started B 12 shots in September last year and from the very first night I experienced insomnia. I am just ahead of my first three monthly maintenance shot following the initial loading doses. I have had some reasonable nights but the overall pattern is to wake up several times and then not to go back to sleep from about 4 or 5 am. About a month ago I started taking some B 12 supplement during the night and it helped at first although as time has gone on I am finding I need more and more during the night. I am looking forward to finding out what will happen after the next injection, and like Fostelle above, my nurse and GP have never heard of anyone else suffering from this and they are adamant it is nothing to do with the B 12!!!Hang in there I am hopeful it will improve, let us know how you get on.
